FUNCTION
The theft deterrent system has the following functions:
| Function | Outline |
|---|---|
| Alarm | When the theft deterrent system switches to the alarm state, the warning items are operated and the alarm sounds for approximately 27.5 seconds. |
| Alarm Indicator | When the theft deterrent system switches to the armed preparation state or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user. This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, which blinks when the engine immobiliser is in the set state. |
| Forced Door Lock | The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all the following conditions are met:
The function stops when one of the following conditions is met:
|
SYSTEM CONTROL
The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:
| State | Description | Theft Detection |
|---|---|---|
| Disarmed State | The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. | Not possible |
| Armed Preparation State | This is the preparation state before the theft deterrent system becomes active (enters the armed state) when the system has been set by the user. | Not possible |
| Armed State | The theft deterrent system is active. (Theft can be detected.) | Possible |
| Alarm State | A theft attempt has been detected and the warning operation activates. | Possible |
The theft deterrent system activates as shown in the diagram above when one of the items in the table occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

| (1) | In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

| (2) | Approximately 30 seconds elapse. |
| (3) |

| (4) |
|
| (5) |
|
| (6) | After approximately 27.5 seconds, the alarm stops and 5 seconds later system returns to armed state. |
| (7) | The engine hood is closed when the engine hood is opened. |

| (9) | In disarmed state 1, when the power switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:
|
| (10) | The engine hood is opened. |

CONSTRUCTION
Self-power Siren
During a normal operation, self-power siren sounds an alarm in accordance with the operation signal from the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). Because this siren has an internal battery, it can independently sound an alarm even if the vehicle battery terminals are disconnected or if the wiring harnesses that are related to the system are cut.
Intrusion Sensor (Theft Warning Ultrasonic Sensor)
An intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) is provided in the map light assembly. If the intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) detects an inappropriate entry into the vehicle interior by an intruder (including intrusions made by breaking window glass), a warning signal is sent to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). This sensor transmits ultrasonic waves in the vehicle interior. When an intruding object moves, it disrupts the reflection of the ultrasonic waves, and the sensor detects the resulting changes in the phase of the ultrasonic waves. The intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor), which is linked to the auto alarm system, sets automatically when the system transfers to the armed state (and the setting of the auto alarm is completed). When the intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) detects a moving object in the vehicle interior, the system transfers to the alarm state. Then, the system sounds the horn intermittently and blinks the hazard warning light for approximately 27.5 seconds and performs a forced locking operation.
Tech Tips
Ultrasonic waves are used to detect intrusion. Ultrasonic waves do not penetrate steel or glass. When any of the side windows or sliding roof is left open, ultrasonic waves may escape. This may result in the detection of people in the surroundings, leaves or insects entering the vehicle, strong wind or other ultrasonic wave sources in the environment when the vehicle is parked with the side windows open. When parking the vehicle with the side windows open for ventilation, turn off the intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor) using the intrusion sensor cancel switch.
Intrusion Sensor Cancel Switch
An intrusion sensor cancel switch is provided in the map light assembly. When the system is in the disarmed state, pressing the intrusion sensor cancel switch can disable the function of the intrusion sensor (theft warning ultrasonic sensor).
Glass Print Pattern Type Glass Breakage Sensor
The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), print patterns on the back door window glass and rear window defogger are connected in series, and when the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) detects an open circuit, it determines that one of the windows has been broken. When the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) receives an open circuit signal from the print pattern or rear window defogger for approximately 0.4 seconds while in the armed state, it determines that one of the windows has been broken and changes the system to the alarm state in order to activate an alarm.
