OUTLINE
Lightweight and Highly Rigid Body
Using high-strength sheet steel and ultra high-strength sheet steel reduces weight and ensures rigidity together with an optimized frame joint structure and optimal positioning of reinforcement members.
Safety Features
The body has a structure that can distribute energy to many members to increase absorption of collision energy and a high strength framework that can control the deformation of the cabin and help secure sufficient survival space.
Rust-resistant Body
Rust-resistance performance is enhanced by extensive use of anti-corrosion sheet steel, as well as by anti-corrosion treatments that include the application of anti-rust wax, sealer and anti-chipping paint to parts that corrode easily, such as the hood and rocker panels.
Low Vibration and Low Noise Body
By connecting braces and reinforcements to the body panels, panel vibration has been reduced. Changes in the structure of body panels also reduce panel vibration. A body structure which reduces body panel frame movement ensures low noise levels.
Effective application of vibration damping and noise suppressant materials reduces engine, wind and road noise.
Aerodynamics
The surface where the front pillar meets the windshield has been leveled off and the shape around the doors and rockers has been smoothed, effectively reducing separation.
Various types of airflow routing parts are provided under the floor, and an under cover is provided to make the under body flat in order to ensure excellent aerodynamic performance.
Parts with Low Repair Cost
Rear end parts are connected by bolts, ensuring ease of repair.
MAIN FEATURES
Exterior Design (Hatchback and Wagon Models)
Front View
By enhancing the shape, the front of the vehicle has been made to appear lower and wider with a firm stance. Furthermore, the emblem appears to thrust out due to the shape of the protrusion to which it is mounted.
The combination of "Round surfaces with tension" and "Sharp lines" expresses "Precision Organic" surface treatment.
By emphasizing the shape of each side of the bumper, the impression of sportiness has been enhanced.
In order to emphasize sportiness, the upper half of the front of the vehicle has been made to appear shorter while the lower half appears taller.

Figure 2. Wagon Models
Side View
The overall length has been extended to enhance the dynamic-flow.
The straight belt line which runs all the way from the front of the hood to the rear of the vehicle provides the appearance of unity.
Rear View
By enhancing the shape and horizontally mounting each reflex reflector with bezel, the rear of the vehicle has been made to appear lower and wider with a firm stance.
The horizontal axis of the rear bumper has been emphasized by the use of a straight chrome plated bar.

Exterior Design (Sedan Models)
Front View
The overall front end design has been created in a T-shaped motif. The large T-shaped graphic incorporates the headlights and the grill openings. The upper grille and headlights are made as thin as possible and widen towards the corners, emphasizing wideness and thus expressing a "Keen look*1".
The contrast between the thin upper grille and trapezoid lower grille expresses "Under priority*2".
The fender top, headlights and bumper corners have been placed closer to the vehicle center to emphasize the protruding wheel flare design.
Tech Tips
*1: The Toyota exclusive front design theme that gives a bright, intelligent and clearly distinctive impression in combination with dynamic "Under priority".
*2: A front design with an enlarged opening and an assertive under grille design, based on technical theories to enhance aerodynamic, cooling and pedestrian protection performance.
Side View
A round, tense surface and a crisp character line runs the form the front fender to the rear fender, expressing a modern look.
Bumper corners are placed closer to the tires to emphasize the long wheel base.
The more upright angle of the bottom of the front pillar and the beltline curving up towards the rear visually makes the front and rear pillars sit firmly on the tires. This enhances the feeling of stability in the silhouette.
Rear View
As with the front, a large T-shape graphic treatment is expressed in the overall rear design.
The flow of the rear license plate garnish, rear combination lights and character line are seamlessly connected. The trunk lid bottom and rear bumper form a continuous surface. As a result, a wide and prestige feel is expressed.
The rear body sides have been slightly concaved to emphasize the protruding wheel flare design, thus expressing a wide stance.
The reflex reflectors placed on the outer edge of the lower bumper enhance a wide feel and a stance with a low center of gravity look.
