Function
Rear Seat Belt Warning
The rear seatbelt warning function indicates the state of the rear seat belts using the telltale light assembly*1 or clock assembly*2.
*1: Sedan models
*2: Hatchback and wagon models
The combination meter assembly sends a rear seat belt warning signal to the telltale light assembly*1 or clock assembly*2 based on the rear seat belt buckle switches and courtesy switches for the rear doors. When the signal is received, the telltale light assembly*1 or clock assembly*2 operates the lights. If a warning is necessary, the buzzer in the combination meter assembly will also sound.

Maintenance Required Reminder Function (Models with 1ND-TV, 1WW or 8NR-FTS Engine)
The engine oil maintenance required reminder will appear to inform the driver of maintenance requirements. On models with the segment LCD type multi-information display, the reminder function is performed using a warning light. On models with the color dot LCD type multi-information display, a message is displayed on the multi-information display.
The combination meter assembly calculates the vehicle driving distance based on signals from the skid control ECU.
There are 2 types of warnings: one is operated when the engine oil is scheduled to be changed since the last time the system was reset, and the other is operated when the engine oil should be changed.
The maintenance required reminder functions as follows:
| Warning Method | The engine oil is scheduled to be changed | The engine oil should be changed |
|---|---|---|
| Warning Light*1 | Blinks | Illuminates |
| Multi-information Display*2 | Oil Maintenance required soon appears | Oil Maintenance required appears |
*1: Models with segment LCD type multi-information display
*2: Models with color dot LCD type multi-information display
After the required maintenance has been performed, the accumulated vehicle driving distance memorized in the combination meter assembly should be reset to zero using the ODO/TRIP DISP switch*1 or TRIP switch of the steering pad switch assembly*2.

Tech Tips
The accumulated vehicle driving distance memorized in the combination meter assembly can be reset using the following procedure.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and make sure that trip meter A is displayed.
Turn the ignition switch off. While pushing the ODO/TRIP DISP switch*1 or TRIP switch*2, turn the ignition switch to ON.
With the ignition switch ON, continue holding the ODO/TRIP DISP switch*1 or TRIP switch*2 (for at least 5 seconds) with the trip meter A counting down. Release the ODO/TRIP DISP switch*1 or TRIP switch*2 when the resetting procedure has completed.
When resetting is completes, the trip meter A will display "000000".
