CONSTRUCTION
In pursuit of high-precision valve timings, a roller chain (chain sub-assembly) with a 8 mm (0.315 in.) pitch is used to reduce wear and elongation.
The chain tensioner assembly uses a spring and oil pressure to maintain proper chain tension at all times. The chain tensioner assembly suppresses noise generated by the timing chain. Also, a ratchet construction is used to improve quietness during starting and low engine speeds.
A resin with a friction reduction effect and high anti-friction performance is used for the shoes of the chain slipper, and No. 1 chain damper to improve low fuel consumption and reliability.
