FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The main components in the power door lock control system have the following functions:
| Component | Function | |
|---|---|---|
| Door Lock Assembly | Driver Key-linked Door Lock Switch*1 | Sends a lock or unlock request signal to the main body ECU by the mechanical key*2 or ignition key*3. |
| Door Lock Motor | Drives the motor in response to signals from the main body ECU and locks or unlocks the doors. | |
| Lock Position Switch | Detects whether the doors are locked or unlocked and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Double Lock Motor*4 | Drives the motor by signals from the double lock door control relay assembly and activates or cancels the double locking system. | |
| Double Lock Position Switch*4 | Detects the operating conditions of the double lock motor and sends this information to the double lock door control relay assembly. | |
| Back Door Lock Assembly | Door Lock Motor | Drives the motor in response to signals from the main body ECU and locks or unlocks the back door. |
| Lock Position Switch | Detects whether the back door is locked or unlocked and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly | Detects whether the doors are open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Back Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly | Detects whether the back door is open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Back Window Lock Assembly*5 | Glass Hatch Courtesy Switch | Detects whether the glass hatch is open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU. |
| Multiplex Network Master Switch Assembly - Door Control Switch |
Sends manual lock and unlock request signals to the main body ECU. | |
| Key Unlock Warning Switch*3 | Detects whether or not the ignition key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Double Lock Door Control Relay Assembly*4 | Drives the double lock motor by means of the signals from the main body ECU, lock position switch and so on. | |
| Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*6 | Detects the shift position and sends this information to the main body ECU via the ECM. | |
| Door Control Battery*7 | Supplies power to the door lock control system when the battery is damaged due to a collision. | |
| Speed Sensor | Sends wheel speed information to the combination meter assembly via the skid control ECU. | |
| Main Body ECU (Driver Side Junction Block Assembly) |
|
|
| Center Airbag Sensor Assembly | Detects collisions using the built-in deceleration sensor and signals from each airbag sensor, and sends this information to the main body ECU. | |
| Combination Meter Assembly | Receives signals from the speed sensor and sends the vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU. | |

FUNCTION
The power door lock control system has the following functions:
| Function*1 | Outline |
|---|---|
| Manual Lock and Unlock | This function can lock or unlock all doors by operation of the door control switch. |
| Key-linked Lock and Unlock*2 | This function, linked with the driver door key cylinder, can lock or unlock all the doors when a lock or unlock operation is performed. |
| Key-linked 2-step Unlock*2 | When the mechanical key is inserted into the door lock cylinder and is turned once, the driver door is unlocked. Then, when the key is turned again, the rest of the doors are unlocked. |
| Manual Unlock Prohibition | When the doors are all closed and are locked using a key linked operation, wireless remote operation or entry lock operation*3, unlocking the vehicle using the door control switch is prohibited. |
| Opening Driver's Door Linked Automatic Door Unlock | All doors are unlocked automatically when the driver door is opened within 43 seconds after the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or off. |
| Shift-linked Automatic Door Lock*4 | This function causes all the doors to be automatically locked.
|
| Shift-linked Automatic Door Unlock*4 | When the ignition switch is ON and the shift lever is moved to P from any position, all of the doors will be automatically unlocked. |
| Speed Sensitive Automatic Door Lock*5 | After the ignition switch has been turned to ON with any of the doors unlocked, this function automatically locks all the doors once the vehicle speed reaches approximately 20 km/h (13 mph) or more. After this function has operated, it will not operate again until either of the following conditions is met:
|
| Collision Door Lock Release*5 | If the SRS airbag system has been activated, and the main body ECU has detected the activation signal output by the center airbag sensor assembly, the main body ECU unlocks all the doors. |
| Key Confinement Prevention |
|
| Double Locking System*7 |
Note Never activate the double locking system when there are people in the vehicle because the doors cannot be opened from the inside of the vehicle. If the doors have been locked by accident, press the unlock button of the transmitter. |
| Customization | The on or off setting of some functions and settings can be performed using the Global Techstream (GTS) or multi-display. In addition, some functions are not available depending on the specification. For details, refer to the Repair Manual. |
Tech Tips
*1: The default setting differs depending on the model.

CONSTRUCTION
Door Control Battery (Models with Door Control Battery)
A door control battery is provided, which supplies power to the door lock control system when the battery is damaged due to a collision.
OPERATION
Door Control Battery (Models with Door Control Battery)
The door control battery charges completely within approximately 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON. Also, the battery finishes discharging through self-discharge approximately 30 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off.
The charged door control battery is used as a redundant power supply to supply power to the main body ECU and door lock/unlock relay in order to enable the impact detection door lock release even when the battery becomes disconnected due to a collision.
Even when the door control battery is not charged (the ignition switch is off), the door control battery always supplies power to the main body ECU and door lock/unlock relay.
