    1. Rear Monitor System


      1. To assist the driver in parking the vehicle by monitoring the area behind it, the rear view monitor system has a rear television camera assembly mounted on the back door*1 or back door spare tire carrier*2.

      2. This system consists of the rear television camera assembly, the radio and display receiver assembly*3 or the navigation receiver assembly*4.


        • *1: Models without back door spare tire carrier

        • *2: Models with back door spare tire carrier

        • *3: Models with display audio system

        • *4: Models with navigation system

    1. Ignition Switch Expressions


      1. The type of ignition switch used on this model differs depending on the specifications of the vehicle. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

    2. Do not rely entirely on the monitor system. Use caution, just as you would when driving any vehicle.

    3. Never drive while looking only at the screen. The image on the screen may differ from actual conditions. If you drive while looking only at the screen, you may hit an object or have an accident. Be sure to confirm the safety of your surroundings when driving the vehicle.

    4. The camera uses a wide-angle lens. The perceived distance from images that appear on the screen differs from the actual distance.

    5. Do not use the rear view monitor system in the following cases:


      1. On icy or slick road surfaces, or in snow

      2. When using tire chains

      3. When the back door is not closed completely

      4. On roads that are not flat or straight, such as curves or slopes.

    6. In the following cases, it may become difficult to see items in the image on the screen, but this does not indicate a malfunction.


      1. In the dark (for example, at night)

      2. When the temperature near the lens is very high or low

      3. When water droplets are present on the television camera, or when humidity is high (for example, when it rains)

      4. When a foreign matter (for example, mud or salt) is present on the television camera lens

      5. When sunlight or headlights are shining directly into the television camera lens

      6. The camera lens is damaged by flying stones

    7. Flicker effect: when the camera is used under fluorescent lights, sodium lights, mercury light etc., the lights and ther illuminated areas may appear to flicker.

    8. When washing the vehicle with a high-pressure washer, do not spray water on the television camera assembly or the surrounding area. High-pressure water can damage the camera.
