ASC SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Item Function
    Stereo Component Equalizer Assembly
    • The stereo component equalizer assembly calculates the frequency of the output sound based on the vehicle speed, accelerator pedal depression angle, calculated engine rotation speed, generated torque, shift lever position, shift range and driving mode signals.

    • The stereo component equalizer assembly creates synthesized sounds which are output to the No. 1 speaker with box assembly through the power amplifier.

Vehicle Sound Switch Turns off or adjusts the volume of the sound output from the No. 1 speaker with box assembly.
No. 1 Speaker with Box Assembly Emits sounds based on the signal from the stereo component equalizer assembly. The No. 1 speaker output sound is reverberated in the box.
Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly Sends the accelerator pedal depression angle, calculated engine rotation speed, generated torque, shift lever position, shift range and driving mode signals to the stereo component equalizer assembly.
Acceleration Pedal Sensor Assembly Sends the accelerator pedal depression angle signal to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
Shift Lever Position Sensor Sends a shift lever position signal to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
Combination Switch Assembly Sends a drive mode selected signal to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
Skid Control ECU Assembly Detects the signals from each speed sensor and outputs the vehicle speed signal to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
Front RH Speed Sensor Detects the wheel speed of each of the 4 wheels.
    Front LH Speed Sensor
    Rear RH Speed Sensor
    Rear LH Speed Sensor
  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    2. The stereo component equalizer assembly outputs the two types of sound by driving mode.

Sound A Nimble tone suitable for traveling, such as urban
Sound B or Sound B' Suitable for sports driving, heavy and extend sound
    3. The output sound in each drive mode is as follows.

      Drive Mode Output Sound
      EV -
      Eco -
      NORMAL Sound A
      SPORT*1/ SPORT S*2 Sound B
      SPORT S+*2 Sound B'

      NORMAL Sound A
      Eco -

      *1: Models without AVS system

      *2: Models with AVS system

      1. If EV mode or ECO mode is selected, the ASC system will be deactivated immediately. If ECO mode, EV mode mode is deselected, the ASC system may not resume immediately even when the mode is returned.

      2. If select a SNOW mode, the ASC system in not affected.

      3. The ASC system operates in NORMAL mode or CUSTOMIZE mode (power train: NORMAL)*, and has a modest volume output.

  3. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Idling Sound Control

      1. When the vehicle is idling or driving at low speeds, the ASC system outputs an idle sound.

      2. The sound is output assuming the engine speed is 1150 rpm with the shift lever in P or N, or 1000 rpm with the shift lever in D, S or R.

      3. When the vehicle speed is less than 0.1 km/h, the output sound is varied by +/- 10 rpm to simulate idling.

    2. Driving Sound Control

      1. When the vehicle is driving, the ASC system outputs a driving sound.

      2. While driving in sequential shift or sequential paddle shift operation, the stereo component equalizer assembly outputs the sound resembling a shift change and the accelerator operation.

      3. While driving with the shift lever in D, the stereo component equalizer assembly outputs the sound with more presence by calculating the shift range.

    3. Exhaust Pulsation Sound Control

      1. The ASC system outputs a driving sound, when the deceleration to off the accelerator pedal.

      2. When deceleration to off the accelerator pedal, the stereo component equalizer assembly outputs a sound, such as unburned gas is burned in the exhaust pipe.

  4. DIAGNOSIS

    1. If the stereo component equalizer assembly detects a malfunction in the grille shutter system, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in the stereo component equalizer assembly.

      1. The 5-digit DTCs can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
