BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The following brake control functions are provided: Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Traction Control (TRC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), VSC and Cooperative Control with EPS*1 or VSC+*2 and hill-start assist control.

      *1: Models for General countries

      *2: Models for Europe

    2. The Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) is used.

    3. A VSC OFF switch is used.

    4. An emergency brake signal is used. This signal is provided to indicate that strong braking is being performed by the driver.

  2. MAIN FEATURES

    1. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM)

      1. In contrast to the ABS, TRC and VSC functions that were controlled individually in the conventional brake control system, the VDIM manages these functions in the form of an integrated system.

      2. Furthermore, the VDIM effects cooperative control together with the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system* in order to improve the dynamic performance of the vehicle to "run, turn, and stop".

  3. PRECAUTION

    1. When the brake control system is activated, the brake pedal may shudder, which is a normal occurrence of the system in operation and should not be considered a malfunction.

    2. The TRC and VSC functions control brake hydraulic pressure and engine output to ensure vehicle stability. Therefore, the VSC OFF switch (stop the operation of the TRC and VSC functions) should be operated only when it is necessary.
