POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM


  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS


    1. The power seat control system for the driver seat consists of the following parts:

      Component Function
      Power Seat Switch Assembly Operates the power seat.
      Position Control ECU Assembly Operates the motors in accordance with the signals from the power seat switch assembly. Registers and recalls seat positions in accordance with the operation of the seat memory switch.
      Power Seat Motor Assembly Slide Motor Slides the seat forward and backward in accordance with the signals from the position control ECU assembly.
      Reclining Motor Adjusts the reclining angle of the seatback in accordance with the signals from the position control ECU assembly.
      Front Vertical Motor Adjusts the front end height of the seat cushion in accordance with the signals from the position control ECU assembly.
      Rear Vertical Motor Adjusts the rear end height of the seat cushion in accordance with the signals from the position control ECU assembly.
      Seat Memory Switch Operate the driving position memory function.
      Main Body ECU Various signals are transmitted and received via the Controller Area Network (CAN) by way of the main body ECU.
    2. The power seat control system for the front passenger seat consists of the following parts:

      Component Function
      Power Seat Switch Assembly Operates the power seat.
      Power Seat Motor Assembly Slide Motor Slides the seat forward and backward in accordance with the signals from the power seat switch assembly.
      Reclining Motor Adjusts the reclining angle of the seatback in accordance with the signals from the power seat switch assembly.
      Front Vertical Motor Adjusts the front end height of the seat cushion in accordance with the signals from the power seat switch assembly.
      Rear Vertical Motor Adjusts the rear end height of the seat cushion in accordance with the signals from the power seat switch assembly.
  2. FUNCTION


    1. Power Seat Control System


      1. This system controls the driver seat using by position control ECU assembly incorporated into the seat switches, which are mounted on driver seat.

      2. The power pneumatic lumbar system, which offers an extra support over a substantial area of the lower back, is used.

      3. The each functions of the front power seat system operate as follows:

        Function Outline Driver Front Passenger
        Manual Control The user can perform slide, reclining, front vertical, and rear vertical adjustments by operating the power seat switch assembly.
        Memory Function The memory function can record and recall the seat position that has been adjusted through the power seat switch assembly. -

  3. OPERATION


    1. Driving Position Function


      1. The memory and recall conditions of driving position memory function are as follows:

        Function Condition
        Memory Stores the positions when all conditions below have been met and button 1 or 2 is pushed while the "SET" button is pushed. When the memory setting is completed, the buzzer will sound for 0.1 seconds.
        Recall Manual Transmission

        If button 1 or 2 is pressed when all conditions have been met, the system operates to adjust the positions.


        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Parking brake switch is on.

        • Vehicle speed is 3 km/h or less.

        When button 1 or 2 is pressed, the buzzer will sound.

  4. DIAGNOSIS


    1. If the seat motor malfunctions, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored in the position control ECU assembly. The DTC can be read by connecting the intelligent tester II to DLC3.
