  1. FUNCTION


    1. The theft deterrent system has the following functions:

      Function Outline
      Alarm When the theft deterrent system switches to the alarm state, the warning items are operated and the alarm sounds for approximately 30 seconds.
      Alarm Indicator When the theft deterrent system switches to the armed preparation state or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user. This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, which blinks when in the engine immobiliser is in the set state.
      Forced Door Lock

      The main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly) transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all the following conditions are satisfied.


      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • There is no key inserted in the ignition key cylinder*1 or there is no electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the actuation area*2.

      • One of the front doors has been unlocked.

      The function stops when one of the following conditions is met.


      • All doors are locked.

      • The warning ends after approximately 30 seconds.

      • The ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder*1 or the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the actuation area*2.
      Alarm Memory In order to inform the user that the theft deterrent system switched to the alarm state, the main body ECU (driver side junction block assembly) illuminates the taillights for 2 seconds when the system is switched to the disarmed state.

  2. OPERATION


    1. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
      Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed Preparation State This is the preparation state before the theft deterrent system becomes active (enters the armed state) when the system has been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed State The theft deterrent system is active. (Theft can be detected.) Possible
      Alarm State A theft attempt has been detected and the warning operation activates. Possible

    2. The theft deterrent system activates as described in the diagram below when one of the items in the chart occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

      Condition Item
      (1)

      • There is no ignition key in the ignition key cylinder*1 or electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is not in the detection area*2.

      • All doors, engine hood and back door are closed.

      • All doors are locked using the door control transmitter assembly lock switch, the smart entry and start system, or mechanical key.
      (2) The system switches to the armed state when the doors, engine hood and back door all closed and locked, and 9 seconds *3 or 30 seconds*4 have elapsed.
      (3)

      The system switches to the disarmed state when one of the following conditions is met.


      • The engine hood, back door or any door is opened.

      • The engine hood, back door or any door is unlocked.

      • The ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder*1.

      • The engine switch is pushed*2.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      The system switches to the alarm state when one of the following conditions is met.


      • With all doors closed, the engine hood, or back door is opened.

      • With all doors locked, any door is unlocked by a method other than the mechanical key, door control transmitter assembly, or electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      The system switches to the disarmed state when one of the following conditions is met.


      • Any door is unlocked with the mechanical key or transmitter.

      • The back door is opened with the mechanical key or transmitter.

      • The ignition switch is changed to ON or ACC*1.

      • The engine switch is changed to on (IG)*2.
      (6) The system reverts to the armed state after the alarm time (30 seconds) elapses.
