FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The main components in the Lexus night view have the following functions:
| Component | Outline |
|---|---|
| No. 1 Night View ECU |
|
| Night View Camera | Receives light from the area ahead of the vehicle to which near-infrared ray projector radiates, and outputs it to the No. 1 night view ECU as image signals. |
| Headlight Assembly - Near-infrared Ray Projector |
Radiates near-infrared rays forward when the Lexus night view is operating. |
| Automatic Light Control Sensor | Detects the lighting intensity on the periphery, and sends it to the Main Body ECU. |
| Night View Switch | Switches the Lexus night view on and off. |
| Multi-display (Accessory Meter Assembly) |
|
OPERATING CONDITION
The Lexus night view will activate when the following conditions are met:
| Conditions | Vehicle Speed | Near-infrared Ray Projector |
|---|---|---|
|
Approx. 15 km/h (9.3 mph) or more | Turns on |
| Approx. less than 10 km/h (6.2 mph) | Turns off* |
Tech Tips
*: Even though the night view display is shown on the multi-display, the visualizable area and distance will be decreased because the near-infrared rays are not radiated.
FUNCTION
When a malfunction occurs in the Lexus night view, a warning message is shown on the multi-display as follows:
| Warning Massage | Condition |

CONSTRUCTION
Near-infrared Ray Projector
The near-infrared ray projector is built into the headlight assembly.
The light source consists of a halogen bulb. The light from this bulb passes through a visible ray cut filter so that only the near-infrared rays are emitted. This construction enables the system to capture a field of vision that is farther than that of the low beam headlight.
The near-infrared ray projector emits weak visible rays around the lens of the near-infrared ray projector.

Night View Camera
The night view camera is located on the forward center of the roof headlining.
| *1 | Night View Camera | - | - |
The night view camera can image the area ahead of the vehicle to which near-infrared rays are radiated, which is 15 degrees horizontally and 13 degrees vertically.
The night view camera has a built-in visible ray cut filter to block anything except near-infrared rays.

DIAGNOSIS
If the No. 1 night view ECU detects a malfunction in the Lexus night view, it stores the malfunction data in memory.
The No. 1 night view ECU outputs 5-digit Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) to a Global TechStream (GTS).
The 5-digit DTCs can be read after connecting a Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details refer to the Repair Manual.
