VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. A Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system is used.

    2. This system controls the turning angle of the front wheels in accordance with the vehicle speed. As a result, excellent ease of steering operation and vehicle stability have been achieved, from the low-speed to the high-speed range.

    3. This system is controlled by the steering control ECU, which operates the steering actuator assembly that is incorporated into the power steering link assembly. The steering control ECU calculates the desired steering angle and controls the steering actuator assembly operating angle based on the current steering angle detected by the steering sensor and vehicle speed.
