SEAT HEATER SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components in the rear seat heater system have the following functions:

      Component Outline
Seat Heater Sewn into the internal surfaces of the seat cushion and the seat back, and warms up the seat surfaces using the heat caused by electrical resistance.
Rear Climate Control ECU Assembly Controls the system based on signals from the seat heater sensor and the seat heater switch.
Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly Sends ambient temperature and air conditioning temperature signals to the climate control ECU assembly.

      Rear Power Seat Switch

      - Rear Seat Heater Switch LH

      - Rear Seat Heater Switch RH

The operation signals of the rear seat heater switch are input into the climate control ECU assembly in order to adjust the seat heater temperature.
Seat Heater Sensor Detects the surface temperature of the seat cushion.
  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. When all of the following conditions are met, the quick seat heater control operates once after the engine switch is turned on (IG):

      Condition

      • 1 second or more has elapsed since the engine switch was turned on (IG).

      • The ambient temperature is 20°C (68°F) or less.

      • The temperature of the seat surface is 35°C (95°F) or less.

      • The seat heater system has been set to the maximum level either by using the seat heater switch or by automatic control.

    2. When any one of the following conditions is met, the quick seat heater control is canceled and the seat heater system operates normally:

      Condition

      • Except when the seat heater system has been set to the maximum level either by using the seat heater switch or by automatic control.

      • When the quick seat heater control reaches the end of its timer sequence.

      • When the temperature of the seat surface is 42°C (108°F) or more.

  3. FUNCTION

    1. The following functions are used for the seat heater system:

      Component Outline
Automatic Control Automatically adjusts the temperature of the seat heater in 6 stages (off, min, mid 1, mid 2, mid 3 and max) in accordance with the ambient temperature, the rear seat air conditioning target airflow temperature, the time elapsed after the engine switch is turned on (IG), etc., when the automatic switch is on.
      Quick Seat Heater Control
      • Temporarily increases the power of the seat heater in accordance with the ambient temperature, seat surface temperature, etc., only once after the engine switch is turned on (IG), and quickly warms the seat heater.

      • A timer is provided for the temporary power increase to set a time in accordance with the ambient temperature and seat surface temperature when the seat heater is on, and this control operates normally once the time has elapsed.

  4. CONSTRUCTION

    1. Rear Seat Heater Switch

      1. The volume indicator light is turned on in response to the usage condition of the rear seat heater system while the rear seat heater system is being used.

      2. The automatic indicator light illuminates when the automatic switch is turned on.
