POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DETAILS


  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS


    1. The main components in the front power seat control system have the following functions:

      Component Outline

      Front Power Seat Switch

      - Position Control ECU Assembly


      • Operates the front power seat.

      • Operates the motors in accordance with the signals from the front power seat switch.

      • Registers and recalls seat positions in accordance with the operation of the seat memory switch.

      • Operates the automatic away and automatic return* function.

      Front Seat Memory Switch Operates the seat position memory function.
      Main Body ECU (Driver Side Junction Block)
      • Various signals are transmitted and received via the Controller Area Network (CAN) by way of the main body ECU.

      • Outputs shift position signals to the position control ECU via the main body ECU.

      Multiplex Tilt and Telescopic ECU
      • Detects the position information of the tilt and telescopic motors.

      • Receives signals from the position control ECU assembly via the CAN, and memorizes and recalls the steering position.

      Multiplex Network Door ECU Sends front seat memory switch operating signals to the main body ECU.

      • *: For driver side

    2. The main components in the rear power seat control system have the following functions:

      Component Outline
      Position Control ECU Assembly
      • Operates the motors in accordance with the signals from the rear power seat switch and seat vibrator switch.

      • Registers and recalls seat positions in accordance with the operation of the seat memory switch.

      Rear Power Seat Switch Operates the rear power seat control system.
      Seat Vibrator Switch
      Rear Seat Memory Switch Operates the seat position memory function.
      Main Body ECU (Driver Side Junction Block)
      • Various signals are transmitted and received via the Controller Area Network (CAN) by way of the main body ECU.

      • Outputs shift position signals to the position control ECU via the main body ECU.

      Multiplex Network Door ECU Sends rear seat memory switch operating signals to the main body ECU.
  2. OPERATING CONDITION


    1. Memory Function


      1. The operating conditions of the memory function are as follows:

        Function Condition Operation
        Memory For Front Seat

        Either of the following conditions is met while the engine switch is on (IG):


        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (front seat memory switch) is pushed while the "SET" button is pushed.

        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (front seat memory switch) is pushed within 3 seconds after the "SET" button is pushed.


        • Stores the seat position.

        • When the memory setting is completed, the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds.

        For Rear Seat

        Either of the following conditions is met while the engine switch is on (IG):


        • Button "SET" (rear seat memory switch) is pushed.


        • Stores the seat position.

        • When the memory setting is completed, the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds.

        Recall For Driver Seat
        • Engine switch is off.

        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (driver side seat memory switch) is pushed within 180 seconds after the driver door has been opened while the engine switch is off.

        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (driver side seat memory switch) is pushed.


        • The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU assembly is recalled.

        • The buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds once the stored seat position is reproduced.


        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Shift position is in P

        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (driver side seat memory switch) is pushed.

        Button 1, 2 or 3 (driver side seat memory switch) is pushed within 60 seconds after the engine switch has been turned off and the driver door has been closed.
        For Front Passenger Seat

        Button 1, 2 or 3 (front passenger side seat memory switch) is pushed within 180 seconds after:


        • Engine switch is off.

        • Front passenger door is opened.


        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Shift position is in P.

        • Button 1, 2 or 3 (front passenger side seat memory switch) is pushed.

        For Rear Seat
        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Button "M" (rear seat memory switch) is pushed.


        • The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU assembly is recalled.

        • However, if the ottoman position is lower than the stored position, the ottoman position is not changed. If the ottoman position is higher than the stored position, the ottoman lowers to the stored position.*1

        Memory Call For Driver Seat
        • A key ID is registered to button 1, 2 or 3.

        • Engine switch is off.

        • The inside of the outside door handle is touched or the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly unlock button is pushed to unlock, and then the driver door is opened.


        • The seat position that was memorized in the position control ECU assembly is recalled.

        • The buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds once the stored seat position is reproduced.

        Automatic Away For Driver Seat
        • Shift lever is in P.

        • Engine switch is off.

        • Driver seat belt is not in use.


        • The seat automatically moves rearward up to 50 mm (1.97 inch).*2

        • The lumbar support moves to the rearmost position.*2

        For Front Passenger Seat
        • Engine switch is off.

        • Vehicle speed is less than 4 km/h (2.5 mph).

        • Front passenger door is opened.


        • The lumbar support*3 and ottoman*4 moves to the rearmost position.*2

        For Rear Seat
        • Engine switch is on (IG).

        • Vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h (1.8 mph).

        • Front passenger door is opened.


        • The seat automatically moves to the default position.

        • This function can be used within 45 seconds of turning the engine switch on (IG) to off.

        Automatic Return For Driver Seat
        • Seat is in automatic away position.

        • Engine switch is turned on (ACC) or on (IG).


        • The seat automatically returns to the previous seat position.

        • If the front power seat ECU determines that the driver seat will interfere with the retractable table while the automatic away function is operating, the automatic away function stops and the buzzer (built into the front power seat ECU) sounds simultaneously. At this time, the warning message is indicated on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly.*5


        • Seat is in automatic away position.

        • Front driver side seat inner belt assembly is on.

        Tech Tips

        *1: Models with rear seat ottoman function

        *2: This setting can be customized using the navigation system. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

        *3: Models with lumbar support function

        *4: Models with front seat ottoman function

        *5: If the operating conditions of the automatic return function are met after the automatic away function has been stopped by the retractable table interference prevention control, the driver seat will slide to the position it was in prior to the operation of the automatic away function.

  3. FUNCTION


    1. Front Power Seat Control System


      1. The front power seat control system can be used to control the driver seat and front passenger seat using the front power seat switch assembly.

      2. The memory function controls by the position control ECU assembly.

      3. Each function of the front power seat control system operates as follows:

        Function Outline
        Manual Control The user can perform seat slide, seat reclining, front vertical, seat lifter, lumbar support, cushion length*1, ottoman*2 and headrest height adjustments by operating the front power seat switch.
        Memory Memory The memory function can memorize 3 different seat positions.
        Recall The recall function can recall 3 different memorized seat positions.
        Memory Call The memory call function, which utilizes the key IDs, is used to memorize and retrieve the optimal driving positions for a person possessing the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
        Automatic Away The seat slide*1, lumbar support and ottoman*2 move to the rearward, making it easier to exit the vehicle.
        Automatic Return The automatic return function automatically returns the seat to the previous position before starting the vehicle.
        Front Passenger Seat Full Front Control*3 The front passenger seat can be retracted to the foremost position and returned back to the original position by pressing the automatic switch located on the integration control panel assembly twice.

    2. Rear Power Seat Control System


      1. The rear power seat control system can be used to control the rear seat using the rear power seat switch and seat vibrator switch.*

      2. The memory function controls by the position control ECU assembly.

      3. Each function of the rear power seat control system operates as follows:

        Function Outline
        Manual Control The user can perform seat slide, seat reclining, shoulder support, pelvic support, ottoman* and headrest height adjustments by operating the rear power seat switch and seat vibrator switch.
        Memory Memory The memory function can memorize 1 different seat position.
        Recall The recall function can recall 1 different memorized seat position.
        Automatic Away
        • In order to improve ease of getting in and out of the vehicle, the personalized positions of the rear seat functions can be returned to their default positions when a rear door is opened.

        • The synchronization with the rear door operation can be canceled by pressing the "C" (rear seat memory switch) switch of the memory system.

  4. DIAGNOSIS


    1. The position control ECU assembly has a diagnosis function. The position control ECU assembly stores a record of any power seat control system failures in its memory in the form of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). DTCs can be read by connecting the Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3.
