SMART KEY SYSTEM GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The smart key system has the following main functions, making it a very user-friendly system.

      Function Outline
      Start Function

The start function is operated by simply pushing the power switch while carrying the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly. When the power switch is pushed, the power management control ECU (smart key ECU assembly) turns the ACC relay, IG1 relays and IG2 relay on or off to switch the power source.*

      • The power source changes depending on depression of the brake pedal and the shift position.

Engine Immobiliser The engine immobiliser function compares the ID code that is registered in the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) with the ID code of the transponder chip that is embedded in the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
Steering Wheel Lock The steering wheel lock function is operated to lock and unlock the steering wheel by using a lock/unlock mechanism in the steering column assembly.
      Entry Function

      Entry Unlock:

The doors unlock when a front outside door handle is gripped.

      • The driver door outside door handle unlocks the driver door.

      • The front passenger door outside door handle unlocks all doors.

      Entry Lock:

All doors lock when the lock sensor on a front outside door handle is touched.

Entry Function Luggage Compartment Door Open Function The luggage compartment door open function can be used to open the luggage compartment door manually by simply pushing the luggage compartment door open switch.
Wireless Door Lock Control The wireless door lock control function is a convenient system for locking and unlocking all the doors and opening the luggage compartment door at a distance. The basic operation is the same as that in the wireless door lock control system.

*: In this chapter, the expression "power source" has been used in some locations to allow precise explanations. The power source condition is also expressed using conventional expressions such as "power switch off", "power switch on (ACC)" and "power switch on (IG)".

  2. MAJOR DIFFERENCE

    1. The 2013 models have been modified from the 2012 models as shown below:

      1. A time setting of 20 minutes for the automatic power off function to operate when the power switch is on (ACC) has been added.

  3. PRECAUTION

    1. Door Control Receiver Expressions

      1. The type of door control receiver used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicles. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.
