Daytime Running Light System
This system is designed to automatically activate the low beam headlights, taillights, clearance lights, and license plate lights during the daytime to keep the car highly visible to other vehicles.
Automatic Light Control System
When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the light control sensor detects the ambient light level and automatically turns the headlights, taillights, clearance lights, and license plate lights on or off accordingly.
Light Automatic Turn-off System
This system automatically turns off the headlight, taillight, and so on when the ignition switch (engine switch*) is turned off and the driver door is opened.
A turn-off delay function is used on some models.
*: Models with entry and start system
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlight System
The HID headlight system uses a discharge bulb as its light source for the low beam. Discharge bulbs have features superior to halogen bulbs.
Automatic Headlight Beam Level Control System
When the headlights are on, the automatic headlight beam level control system operates the headlight leveling motor in accordance with the movement of the vehicle.
Manual Headlight Beam Level Control System
The manual headlight beam level control system keeps the beam of the headlight adjusted to the appropriate level in accordance with the number (weight) of passengers and volume of luggage.
Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS)
An intelligent AFS is used in order to ensure a wide low beam lighting area and provide excellent visibility during turns by moving the low beam.

Emergency Brake Signal
An emergency brake signal is used. This function automatically flashes the stop lights in 4 Hz cycles during sudden braking, in order to alert vehicles behind and reduce the risk of an accident.

PRECAUTION
HID Headlight System
When the HID headlights illuminate, a high voltage (approximately 22000 V) is applied momentarily to the bulb sockets, which could lead to a serious accident. Never connect the tester to the high voltage socket of HID headlight for measurement, as the high voltage may cause a serious accident.
When inspecting the HID headlight system, in order to prevent electric shocks, make sure that water is not present, the light control switch is off, the battery terminal has been removed, and the connector of the light control ECU has been disconnected.
Operate the HID headlight only after assembly has been properly completed, and never operate without bulbs installed.
Do not operate the HID headlight using a power source other than that of the vehicle.
If there is a defect in the HID headlight or if the headlight has suffered a shock, replace the bulb with a new one.
Discharge bulbs reach high temperatures when illuminated. For this reason, the life of a bulb could be shortened if any oil comes in contact with the glass portion of the bulb. Do not touch the glass portion of a bulb with bare hands.
