  1. FUNCTION

    1. The theft deterrent system has the following functions:

      Function Outline
      Alarm When the theft deterrent system switches to the alarm state, the warning items are operated and the alarm sounds for approximately 57 seconds*1 or 27.5 seconds*2.
      Alarm Indicator When the theft deterrent system switches to the armed preparation state or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user. This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, which blinks when the engine immobiliser is in the set state.
      Forced Door Lock

      The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all the following conditions are met:

      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • The door control transmitter assembly is not in the ignition or starter switch assembly.*3

      • There is no electrical key transmitter sub-assembly in the actuation area.*4

      • One of the doors has been unlocked.

      The function stops when one of the following conditions is met:

      • All doors are locked.

      • The warning ends after approximately 57 seconds*1 or 27.5 seconds*2.

      • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is in the actuation area.*4
      Alarm Memory*1 In order to inform the user that the theft deterrent system had previously switched to the alarm state, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) illuminates the taillights for 2 seconds when the system is switched to the disarmed state.

  2. OPERATION

    1. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
      Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed Preparation State This is the preparation state before the theft deterrent system becomes active (enters the armed state) when the system has been set by the user. Not possible
      Armed State The theft deterrent system is active. (Theft can be detected.) Possible
      Alarm State A theft attempt has been detected and the warning operation activates. Possible

    2. The theft deterrent system activates as shown in the diagram above when one of the items in the table occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

      Models with Smart Key System and Remote Engine Starter System

      (1)

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • With the doors, the engine hood and luggage compartment door closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed, and all doors are locked, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • All doors are closed (when any door was previously opened).
      (2) Approximately 30 seconds elapse.
      (3)

      • The doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The engine hood is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The glass breakage sensor ECU detects impacts to or breakage of the glass.*

      • Any door is opened.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine switch is pushed, the power source mode changes to on (IG). (Remote engine starter system is not in use at this time)

      • The power source mode is turned to on (IG) and the engine is running for more than 2 seconds.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • The power source mode changes to on (ACC) or on (IG) within 5 seconds after the engine switch is pushed. (Remote engine starter system is not in use at this time)
      (6) After approximately 57 seconds, the alarm stops and the system returns to the armed state.
      (7) The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation or the smart key system.

      • The luggage compartment door is open → closed (the engine hood is already closed).

      • The engine hood is open → closed (the luggage compartment door is already closed).
      (9)

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • The power source mode changes to on (ACC) or on (IG).

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off or remote engine starter system is in use at this time, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • With all doors closed, and the engine hood and luggage compartment door opened, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off or remote engine starter system is in use at this time, all doors are locked and the engine hood and luggage compartment door are open, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • All doors are closed (when any door was previously opened).

      • The engine hood is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation or the smart key system.

      Models with Smart Key System and without Remote Engine Starter System

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • With the doors, the engine hood and luggage compartment door closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed, and all doors are locked, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • All doors are closed (when any door was previously opened).
      (2) Approximately 30 seconds elapse.

      • The doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The engine hood is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The glass breakage sensor ECU detects impacts to or breakage of the glass.*1

      • Any door is opened.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • When 5 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine switch is pushed, the power source mode changes to on (IG).

      • The power source mode is turned to on (IG) and the engine is running for more than 2 seconds.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • The power source mode changes to on (ACC) or on (IG) within 5 seconds after the engine switch is pushed.

      • After approximately 57 seconds, the alarm stops and the system returns to the armed state.*2

      • After approximately 27.5 seconds, the alarm stops and the system returns to the armed state.*3
      (7) The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation or the smart key system.

      • The luggage compartment door is open → closed (the engine hood is already closed).

      • The engine hood is open → closed (the luggage compartment door is already closed).

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The engine switch is pushed.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      • The power source mode changes to on (ACC) or on (IG).

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • With all doors closed, and the engine hood and luggage compartment door opened, all doors are locked by wireless operation, the smart key system or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the engine switch is off, all doors are locked and the engine hood and luggage compartment door are open, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • All doors are closed (when any door was previously opened).

      • The engine hood is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation or the smart key system.

      In disarmed state 1, when the ignition switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met when the door control transmitter assembly is not in the ignition or starter switch assembly:

      • With all doors, the engine hood and the luggage compartment door closed, all doors are locked by wireless operation or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the ignition switch is off, the engine hood and luggage compartment door are closed, and all doors are locked, the system state is switched if the following condition is met:

      • All doors are closed (when any door was previously opened).
      (2) Approximately 30 seconds elapse.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or key linked power door lock operation.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The door control transmitter assembly is in the ignition or starter switch assembly.

      • The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • Any door is opened.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • The engine hood is opened .

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The ignition switch is turned to ON when the door control transmitter assembly is not in the ignition or starter switch assembly.

      • The ignition switch is turned to ON and the engine is running for more than 2 seconds.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or key linked power door lock operation.

      • Turn the ignition switch to ACC or ON when the door control transmitter assembly is in the ignition or starter switch assembly.
      (6) After approximately 57 seconds, the alarm stops and the system returns to the armed state.
      (7) The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation.
      (8)

      • The luggage compartment door is open → closed (the engine hood is already closed).

      • The engine hood is open → closed (the luggage compartment door is already closed).

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • Any door is opened.

      • The door control transmitter assembly is in the key cylinder.

      • The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.

      • The battery is reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked by wireless operation or key linked power door lock operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the ignition switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met when the door control transmitter assembly is not in the ignition or starter switch assembly:

      • With all doors closed, and the engine hood and luggage compartment door opened, all doors are locked by wireless operation.

      In disarmed state 1, when the ignition switch is off, the system state is switched if the following condition is met when the door control transmitter assembly is not in the ignition or starter switch assembly:

      • All doors are closed when any door is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened.

      • The luggage compartment door is opened by wireless operation.
