REMOTE ENGINE STARTER SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Remote Engine Starter ECU
    • The remote engine starter ECU transmits the immobiliser release signal to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

    • The remote engine starter ECU sends the power source mode on (IG) request signal to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

    • The remote engine starter ECU transmits the engine start request signal to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Information from each ECU is sent to and received from the remote engine starter ECU via the main body ECU. The main body ECU acts as a gateway ECU for this information.
Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly)
    • Certifies the ID code received from the door control receiver and transmits the certification results to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

    • Transmits the engine immobiliser unset request signal.

    Tech Tips

    • The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) changes the power source mode to on (IG) due to the signal it receives from the remote engine start ECU.

    • The certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) starts the engine due to the signal it receives from the remote engine starter ECU.

    Electrical Key Transmitter Sub-assembly
    • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly outputs information such as its key ID and vehicle ID when request signals that are output by the room and door oscillators are received.

    • The electrical key transmitter sub-assembly outputs a request signal when the lock or unlock switch on the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pushed.

Door Control Receiver The door control receiver receives the lock or unlock switch signal and ID code from the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly and transmits them to the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).
  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. The remote engine starter system can be activated when all of the following conditions are met:

      1. Shift lever is in P.

      2. All doors are closed.

      3. The engine hood is closed.

    2. The remote engine starter system stops the engine if one of the following conditions is met:

      1. If any door is manually unlocked via electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.

      2. If any door is opened.

      3. If the shift lever is moved to any position other than P.

      4. If the engine hood is opened.

      5. If the engine switch is pushed.

      6. If the brake pedal is depressed.

      7. If the security alarm is triggered.

  3. OPERATION

    1. Remote engine start function:

      1. Push and release the lock switch.

      2. The hazard warning lights flash once.

      3. Push and release the lock switch again.

      4. The hazard warning lights flash once again.

      5. Push and hold the lock switch for 3 seconds.

      6. The hazard warning lights flash once when the lock switch is first pressed. The hazard warning lights flash again at the end of the 3 seconds.

      7. The engine starts and the hazard warning lights flash for 20 seconds.

    2. Remote engine stop function:

      1. There are 2 methods by which to shut off the vehicle engine remotely: Either push the unlock switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly once or push and hold the lock switch for 2 seconds or more.

        1. Method 1:

Push the unlock switch. The engine stops and the hazard warning lights flash twice.

        2. Method 2:

Push and hold the lock switch for 2 seconds or more. The engine stops and the hazard warning lights flash once.

        Tech Tips

        • Using method 1, vehicle will remain unlocked for 30 seconds. Then the vehicle automatically relocks if no doors are opened. If vehicle will not be in view for that time, or if there are other security concerns, it may be preferred to use method 2, which does not unlock the vehicle.

        • Using method 2, all doors will remain locked after the engine is shut off.
