SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM


  1. DESCRIPTION


    1. The driver and front passenger dual-stage SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags supplement the seat belts to help to reduce the shocks to the heads and chests of the driver and front passenger in the event of a frontal collision.

    2. The SRS knee airbags help restrain the lower parts of the bodies of the driver and front passenger, thus enhancing the excellent passenger protection provided by the seat belts and front airbags.

    3. The SRS side airbags for the driver and the front passenger and the SRS rear side airbags for the rear No. 1 seat outer passengers help to reduce shocks to the chests of the driver, front passenger, and rear No. 1 seat outer passengers in the event of a front or side collision.

    4. The SRS curtain shield airbags help to reduce shocks to the heads of the driver, front passenger, rear No. 1 seat and rear No. 2 seat outer passengers in the event of a front or side collision.

    5. An RSCA (Roll Sensing Curtain shield Airbags) function is used in order to deploy the curtain shield airbags for the driver, front passenger, rear No. 1 seat and rear No. 2 seat outer passengers and the seat belt pretensioners for the driver, front passenger, and rear No. 1 seat outer passengers, in the event that the vehicle rolls over. The RSCA OFF switch is provided on the driver side of the instrument panel to allow the driver to disable this function.

    6. An airbag manual ON-OFF switch is provided on models to disable the deployment of the front passenger airbag, front passenger side knee airbag, and front passenger side airbag (side airbag RH).

    7. The function of the airbag sensor assembly is to record the front seat belt wearing condition while the airbag is inflating.

    8. If any of the airbags have been deployed, the airbag sensor assembly transmits a collision detection signal to the ECM.

    9. During a collision, the airbag sensor assembly of the SRS airbag system sends a door unlock signal to the main body ECU in order to unlock all doors.
