  1. General


    1. The cornering light system has been adopted for some specifications to light up the side of vehicle widely depending on the current winker or steering operation when cornering an intersection at night.

    2. The headlight light control ECU sub-assembly controls this system.

  4. Function of Main Components

    Component Function
    Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Outputs a cornering lamp illumination request signal to the headlamp light control computer assembly based on the signals from the each sensor and the switch.
    Headlight Light Control ECU Sub-assembly LH / RH Received the cornering light operation signal from the main body ECU and illuminates the cornering lights.
    ECM Transmits the shift position signals to the main body ECU.
    Brake Booster with Master Cylinder Assembly Skid Control ECU Sends the vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU.
    Automatic Light Control Sensor Detects the ambient light level and transmits to the main body ECU.
    Headlight Dimmer Switch Assembly Outputs a turn signal light switch and light control switch signal to the main body ECU.
    Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly Steering Sensor Detects the angle of the steering wheel and sends the resulting signals to the main body ECU.
    Park / Neutral Position Switch Assembly Detects the shift lever position and transmits to the ECM.

  5. Operation


    1. By operating the turn signal light or illuminating the cornering light for the way to the same direction with steering, the view of travelling direction is ensured when the vehicle is advancing.

    2. The cornering light for the travelling direction is illuminated if the following conditions are met:


      1. The engine switch is on (IG).

      2. The low beam head light is illuminated.

      3. The vehicle speed is approx. 35 km/h (22 mph) or less.

      4. The turn signal switch is ON or while steering is operated (the rudder angle is approx. 80° or more).

    3. Both sides of the cornering light are illuminated if the following conditions are met:


      1. The engine switch is on (IG).

      2. The low beam head light is illuminated.

      3. The shift position is R.
