  1. General


    1. The dynamic type automatic headlight beam level control system is used, when the headlights on, the automatic headlight beam level control system operates the headlight leveling motors in accordance with the movement of the vehicle.

    2. The headlight light control ECU sub-assembly (LED driver module) receives vehicle height change signals sent from the suspension control ECU and calculates the changes in the pitch angle of the vehicle.

    3. The headlight light control ECU sub-assembly (LED driver module) drives the headlight leveling motor LH and RH in accordance with the change.

  4. Function of Main Components

    Component Function
    Headlight Light Control ECU Sub-assembly LH (LED Driver Module)

    • Receives signals from each ECU and sensor and controls the automatic headlight beam level control system.

    • Controls the headlight leveling motor LH.

    • When a malfunction is detected in the system, sends an automatic headlight beam level control warning light on request signal to the combination meter assembly.
    Headlight Light Control ECU Sub-assembly RH (LED Driver Module) Controls the headlight leveling motor RH according to control signals from the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module).
    Headlight Leveling Motor LH and RH Moves the headlights vertically and controls the beam axis direction according to control signals from the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly (LED driver module).
    Brake Booster with Master Cylinder Assembly Skid Control ECU Transmits the vehicle speed signal to the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module).
    Suspension Control ECU Transmits the vehicle height signal to the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module).
    Rear Height Control Sensor Sub-assembly LH Detects the vehicle movement and transmits a signal to the suspension control ECU.
    Headlight Dimmer Switch Assembly Transmits a light control signal to the main body ECU.
    Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Receives a light control signal and transmits it to the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module).
    Combination Meter Assembly Displays a warning message on the multi-information display and sounds the buzzer to inform the driver when the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module) detects a malfunction in this system.

  5. Function


    1. The headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module) calculates changes in the vehicle posture based on the signals from the suspension control ECU.

    2. Following this, the ECU controls the headlight leveling motors based on this information, in order to change the headlight unit angle.

  6. Fail-safe


    1. If the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module) detects a malfunction in the automatic headlight beam level control system, the headlight light control ECU sub-assembly LH (LED driver module) performs the fail-safe operation. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
