FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The electrical remote control type mirror sub-assembly consists of the following parts:
| Component | Function |
|---|---|
| Outer Mirror Switch Assembly | Operates the mirror sub-assembly to adjust the mirror surface. |
| Mirror Sub-assembly | Adjusts the position of the mirror by operating the motor in the mirror sub-assembly in accordance with the signals from the outer mirror switch assembly. |
The mirror heater system consists of the following parts:
| Component | Function |
|---|---|
| Mirror Heater | Prevents frost and dew build-up on the mirror. |
| Rear Window Defogger Switch | Operates the mirror heater. |
FUNCTION
Mirror Heater System
The mirror heaters use a heater element in both mirror sub-assemblies to help remove frost and dew from the mirrors.
The mirror heaters are controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly.*
*: Models with automatic air conditioning
The mirror heater operates at the same time as the rear window defogger system.
OPERATION
Mirror Heater System (Models with Automatic Air Conditioning)
The mirror heater is activated when the ignition switch (engine switch*) is turned to ON, and rear window defogger switch is pushed. The air conditioning amplifier assembly activates to keep the mirror heater on for approximately 15 minutes.
*: Models with entry and start system
However, the operating time of the rear window defogger system, which is the same as that of the mirror heater system, will be extended in the following conditions:
Ambient temperature: -3°C (27°F) or less
Vehicle speed: 45 km/h (28 mph) or more
