POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components in the power door lock control system have the following functions:

      Component Function
Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly Detects whether the doors are open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU.
Door Lock Assembly Lock Position Switch Detects whether the doors are locked or unlocked and sends this information to the main body ECU.
Door Lock Motor Drives the motor in response to signals from the main body ECU and locks or unlocks the doors.
Driver Key-linked Door Lock Switch*1 Sends a lock or unlock request signal to the main body ECU by the mechanical key*2 or ignition key*3.
Double Lock Motor*4 Drives the motor by signals from the double lock door control relay assembly and activates or cancels the double locking system.
Double Lock Position Switch*4 Detects the operating conditions of the double lock motor and sends this information to the double lock door control relay assembly.
Back Door Lock Assembly Back Door Courtesy Light Switch Detects whether the back door is open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU.
Door Lock Motor Drives the motor in response to signals from the main body ECU and releases the back door latch.
Manual Door Lock Switch Sends manual lock and unlock request signals to the main body ECU.
Double Lock Door Control Relay Assembly*4 Drives the double lock motor by means of the signals from the main body ECU, lock position switch and so on.
Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*5 Detects the shift position and sends this information to the main body ECU via the ECM.
Center Airbag Sensor Assembly Detects collisions using a built-in deceleration-sensor and signals from each airbag sensor, and sends this information to the main body ECU.
Key Unlock Warning Switch*3 Detects whether or not the ignition key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder and sends this information to the main body ECU.
Combination Meter Assembly Receives signals from the speed sensor and sends the vehicle speed signal to the main body ECU.
Speed Sensor Sends wheel speed information to the combination meter assembly via the skid control ECU.
      Main Body ECU
      • Drives all door lock motors in response to signals.

      • Sends an operation request signal to the double lock door control relay assembly in response to each signal.

  2. FUNCTION

    1. The power door lock control system has the following functions:

Function Outline Customized Body Electronics System
Manual Lock and Unlock This function can lock or unlock all doors by operation of the manual door lock switch. Standard (Not Customizable)
Manual Unlock Prohibition Performing the door lock operation with a transmitter or a key will prohibit the doors from being unlocked by the door lock control switch. Standard (Not Customizable)
Key-linked Lock and Unlock This function, linked with the driver door key cylinder, can lock or unlock all the doors when a lock or unlock operation is effected. Standard (Not Customizable)
Key Confinement Prevention When the key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder and the door lock operation is performed while the driver door is open, all the doors will be unlocked. Standard (Not Customizable)
      Double Locking System*1
      • The double locking system also prevents the doors from being opened through the operation of the inside door knobs. Thus, the doors cannot be opened from either inside or outside of the vehicle.

      • Pressing the "lock" button on the key*2 or transmitter*3 once then pressing it again within 5 seconds activates the double locking system. However, as an emergency unlocking maneuver, only the driver door can be unlocked with a key.

        Note

Never activate the double locking system when there are people in the vehicle because the doors cannot be opened from the inside of the vehicle. If the doors have been locked by accident, press the "unlock" button of the key*2 or transmitter*3.

      Standard (Not Customizable)
Collision Door Lock Release If the SRS airbag system has been deployed, and the main body ECU has detected the signal that is output by the center airbag sensor assembly, the main body ECU unlocks all the doors. Standard (Not Customizable)
      Shift-linked Automatic Door Lock*4

When the conditions listed below are met, this function causes all the doors to be automatically locked:

      • The engine is running.

      • All of the doors are closed.

      • The shift lever is moved to any position other than P.

      • Any of the doors are unlocked.

      Default Setting is Off*5
Shift-linked Automatic Door Unlock*4 When the ignition switch (engine switch*2) is ON and the shift lever is moved to P from any position, all of the doors will be automatically unlocked. Default Setting is Off*5
      Speed Sensitive Automatic Door Lock

After the ignition switch (engine switch*2) has been turned to ON with any of the doors unlocked, this function causes all doors to be automatically locked once the vehicle speed reaches approximately 20 km/h (13 mph) or more. After this function has operated, it will not operate again until either of the following conditions is met:

      • Any of the doors are opened after the vehicle has stopped.

      • The ignition switch (engine switch*2) is turned off after the vehicle has stopped.

      Default Setting is On*5
Opening Driver's Door-linked Automatic Door Unlock All doors are unlocked automatically when the driver's door is opened within 43 seconds after the ignition switch (engine switch*2) is turned from ON to ACC or off. Default Setting is On*5, *6
