OUTLINE
LEXUS Hybrid Drive and E-Four System
LEXUS Hybrid Drive optimally performs cooperative control of the high-output 2GR-FXE engine and high-speed, high-output Motor Generators (MG1 and MG2) in the P313 hybrid transaxle (hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly) that provides excellent transmission performance for the front wheel drive system.
The E-Four system optimally controls the Motor Generator Rear (MGR) through a Q211 rear drive unit (rear traction motor with transaxle assembly) that provides excellent transmission performance for the rear wheel drive system.
Furthermore, it uses a variable-voltage system consisting of a high-output HV battery assembly with a nominal voltage of DC 288 V, and a boost converter that boosts the operating voltage of the system to a maximum voltage of DC 650 V.

2GR-FXE Engine
The 2GR-FXE engine is a 3.5-liter, 24-valve DOHC V6 engine. This engine uses the Variable Valve Timing-intelligent (VVT-i) system, Direct Ignition System (DIS), Electronic Throttle Control System-intelligent (ETCS-i) and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. These control functions achieve improved engine performance, fuel economy, and clean emissions.
The 2GR-FXE engine is a high-expansion ratio engine that uses the Atkinson cycle to achieve high thermal efficiency and support fuel economy.

Suspension
A MacPherson strut type independent suspension is used for the front.
A trailing arm type double wishbone independent suspension is used for the rear.
Air Suspension
The air suspension uses pneumatic cylinders instead of the coil springs that are used in a conventional suspension.
The pressures in the pneumatic cylinders are controlled by the height control compressor assembly, achieving both handling stability and improved vehicle accessibility.

Active Stabilizer Suspension System
The active stabilizer suspension system controls the stabilizer electronically by using 2 active stabilizer control actuator assemblies to limit rolling when cornering.
A pair of active stabilizer control actuator assemblies are provided, one each for the front and rear stabilizer bars for optimum control of the stabilizer force in accordance with vehicle posture. This reduces vehicle body roll when cornering, ensuring a stable turning position and high cornering performance.

Steering
The Electric Power Steering (EPS) system uses a power steering motor, a power steering torque sensor and a reduction mechanism that are built into the steering column assembly to generate assist torque, in order to assist the driver's steering effort.
