OUTLINE
Lightweight and Highly Rigid Body
High-strength steel is used in order to achieve excellent body rigidity and a lightweight body.
Safety Features
The impact absorbing structure minimizes cabin deformation by effectively helping to absorb the impact energy in the event of a front or side collision. This provides high performance occupant protection.
Rust-resistant Body
Rust-resistant performance is enhanced by the extensive use of anti-corrosion sheet steel, as well as by an anti-corrosion treatment that includes the application of anti-rust wax and sealer to the easily corroded parts such as the edge of the door lower portion, door hinge, fuel filler lid hinge, and the hemmed portions of the hood panel.
Low Vibration and Low Noise Body
Effective application of vibration damping and noise suppressant materials reduces engine, wind and road noise.
Parts with Low Repair Cost
In minor collisions in which no damage is inflicted to the radiator support upper, the hood lock support brace and bumper reinforcement sub-assembly, repair cost is lowered by minimizing the number of parts that require replacement in order to be reused.
MAIN FEATURES
Exterior Design
Front View
A vertical flow is used as a basis for the front design. In the center portion, an area from the hood panel to the lower end of the front bumper has been solidified into a single unit which unifies the upper and lower portions, thus expressing strength and a feeling of pushing forward.
A boldly-cut inverted trapezoidal shape is used as a motif for the radiator grille in pursuit of a feeling of prestige and sophistication.
The front bumper has been given a lower and wider appearance, thus expressing aggressiveness and a premium feeling.
The surface treatment on the elaborately-designed lower grille has been darkened to express a straight, fluid image which extends toward the sides. As a result, a wide feeling and a brand new SUV design have been aimed for.
Rear View
A clear lens with a unique double round graphic is used for the rear combination light.
The vehicle name has been placed on the back door outside garnish to emphasize brand identity, thus also achieving a simple design.
The rear bumper has been smoothly integrated with the body, thus achieving a design which has a feeling of unity with the body. Both sides of the lower extremity of the bumper protrude in order to produce a solid inverted trapezoidal shape in the center, thus expressing toughness.
Side View
A slanted rear quarter pillar achieves a sportier design.
The character line of the over fender (front wheel opening extension sub-assembly, rear No. 2 wheel opening bracket and rear No. 1 wheel opening extension) has been designed to flow backward to give a fluid image.
