SEAT HEATER SYSTEM DETAILS

FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

1. The main components in the seat heater system have the following functions:

   Components	Outline
   Seat Heater	The seat heater is sewn into the internal surfaces of the seat cushion and the seat back. The seat heater warms up the seat surfaces using the heat caused by electrical resistance.
   Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly	Controls the system based on signals from the seat heater sensor and the seat heater switch.
   Refreshing Seat Switch - Front Seat Heater Switch LH - Front Seat Heater Switch RH	The operation signals of the seat heater switch are input into the air conditioning amplifier assembly in order to adjust the seat heater temperature.
   Cooler Control Switch Panel* - Rear Seat Heater Switch LH - Rear Seat Heater Switch RH
   Seat Heater Sensor	Detects the surface temperature of the seat cushion.

FUNCTION

1. Front Seat Heater System

   
   

   1. When the front seat heater switch is turned on, the air conditioning amplifier assembly detects the set temperature via the switch and the seat surface temperature via the seat heater sensor equipped in the front seat cushion heater to supply electrical current that is based on certain conditions, adjusting the seat surface temperature to the set temperature. Also, when the seat surface temperature reaches approximately 43°C [Hi], 38°C [Mid] or 33°C [Lo], the air conditioning amplifier assembly blocks the flow of electrical current to the front seat heater. Later, when the seat surface temperature reaches approximately 42°C [Hi], 37°C [Mid] or 32°C [Lo], the air conditioning amplifier assembly resumes the supply of electrical current.

   2. When all of the following conditions are met while the eco-linked function is on*1, the front seat heater activates under the timer control.*2

      The outside temperature is below the predetermined temperature. Driver seat control mode or front seat control mode is turned on by the S-FLOW control of the air conditioning system. The front seat heater system is not in use.

      *1: The settings of the eco-linked function can be customized. For details on customization, refer to the Repair Manual.

      *2: The front seat heater for the front passenger seat does not operate when there are no occupants in the front passenger seat.

   3. The front seat heater uses a timer control. The timer control gradually decreases the temperature from the set temperature when the front seat heater was turned on. Once the front seat heater reaches Lo, the timer control maintains seat heater setting at Lo*. The time between each temperature decrease may change depending on the outside air temperature, cabin temperature, etc.

   4. When the power switch is turned off while the front seat heater is in operation, the operation starting status of the front seat heater may vary depending on the time until the power switch is turned on (IG) again.

      
      

      • If less than 15 minutes have elapsed, the operation status of the front seat heater when the power switch was turned off will be maintained.

      • If 15 minutes or more have elapsed, the front seat heater starts operating from Hi.

   5. When the automatic control function is controlling the front seat heater system, the temperature of the front seat heater is automatically adjusted in 6 stages (off, Lo 1, Lo 2, Mid 1, Mid 2 and Hi) according to the outside temperature and front air conditioning target airflow temperature.*

2. Rear Seat Heater System

   
   

   1. When the rear seat heater switch is turned on, the air conditioning amplifier assembly detects the set temperature via the switch and the seat surface temperature via the seat heater sensor equipped in the rear seat cushion heater to supply electrical current that is based on certain conditions, adjusting the seat surface temperature to the set temperature. Also, when the seat surface temperature reaches approximately 43°C [Hi], 38°C [Mid] or 33°C [Lo], the air conditioning amplifier assembly blocks the flow of electrical current to the rear seat heater. Later, when the seat surface temperature reaches approximately 42°C [Hi], 37°C [Mid] or 32°C [Lo], the air conditioning amplifier assembly resumes the supply of electrical current.
