FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The main components in the Lexus night view have the following functions:
| Components | Outline |
|---|---|
| No. 1 Night View ECU |
|
| Night View Camera Assembly | Receives light from the area ahead of the vehicle to which near-infrared ray light radiates, and outputs it to the No. 1 night view ECU as image signals. |
| Headlight Assembly - Near-infrared Ray Light |
Radiates near-infrared rays forward when the Lexus night view is operating. |
| Light Control Sensor | Detects the lighting intensity on the periphery, and sends it to the No.1 night view ECU. |
| Night View Switch | Switches the Lexus night view on and off. |
| Accessory Meter Assembly | Shows the night view display in accordance with the signals from the No.1 night view ECU. |
| Combination Meter Assembly | Shows the warning display on the multi-information display to inform the driver when there is a malfunction in the Lexus night view. |
OPERATING CONDITION
The Lexus night view will activate when the following conditions are met:
| Conditions | Vehicle Speed | Near-infrared Ray Light |
|---|---|---|
|
Approx. 15 km/h (9.3 mph) or more | Turns on |
| Approx. less than 15 km/h (9.3 mph) | Turns off* |
Tech Tips
*: Even though the night view display is shown on the accessory meter assembly, the visualizable area and distance will be decreased because the near-infrared rays are not radiated.
When the night view switch is pressed at a time when the Lexus night view cannot be operated, an advice display will be shown on the multi-information display of the combination meter assembly.
When the shift lever is moved to R while the Lexus night view is operating, the night view display becomes dark and shows no image.
FUNCTION
When a malfunction occurs in the Lexus night view, a warning message is shown on the accessory meter assembly as follows:
| Warning Message | Condition |

CONSTRUCTION
Near-infrared Ray Light
The near-infrared ray light is built into the headlight assembly.
The light source consists of an LED, which is the same as an ordinary high-beam headlight. The amount of the radiated energy is also the same as that of a high-beam headlight. This construction enables the system to capture a field of vision that is farther than of the low-beam headlight.

DIAGNOSIS
If the No. 1 night view ECU detects a malfunction in the Lexus night view, it stores the malfunction data in memory.
The No. 1 night view ECU outputs 5-digit Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) to a Global TechStream (GTS).
The 5-digit DTCs can be read after connecting a Global TechStream (GTS) to the DLC3. For details refer to the Repair Manual.
