METER / GAUGE SYSTEM GENERAL


  1. OUTLINE


    1. An Optitron display type combination meter assembly is used.

    2. The Optitron display type combination meter assembly achieves excellent visibility through the use of smoke acrylic in the protective panel, and bright Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) that have high contrast to illuminate the indicator and the dial.

    3. A meter ECU and a multi buzzer are enclosed in the combination meter assembly. This ECU maintains communication with other ECUs through the Controller Area Network (CAN).

    4. A front seat belt warning system is provided. If the front seat belt is not buckled, this system blinks the seat belt warning light and sounds the multi buzzer as a reminder.

    5. The maintenance reminder function is used to inform the driver when oil replacement is necessary.

    6. A Hybrid System Indicator is provided. The indicator makes it possible to confirm the system output and regenerative condition of the hybrid system.

    7. The injector maintenance reminder function is used to inform the driver when injector maintenance is necessary.*

    8. A meter panel illumination is used. The meter panel illumination turns the upper part of the combination meter assembly blue or red in accordance with the driving conditions and the drive mode, thus making it easier to check the driving status.

    9. A headup display to show various types of vehicle information is used.

      The diagram shown above is for describing the new car features. They may differ from the actual design. If the LEDs malfunction, the entire combination meter assembly must be replaced. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

  2. MAIN FEATURES


    1. Hybrid System Indicator


      1. The Hybrid System Indicator displays the total of the HV battery and engine output as hybrid system output.

      2. The scale for the Hybrid System Indicator is divided into 3 areas (CHARGE, ECO, POWER). The role of each area is as follows:

        Area Function
        CHARGE The CHARGE area indicates when energy is being regenerated.
        ECO
        • The ECO area indicates when the vehicle is being driven Eco-friendly manner.

        • The Hybrid Eco area indicates that the vehicle is driven in a manner that promotes frequent motor-only operation. Based on various conditions, the power management control ECU controls when the engine is stopped to enhance fuel efficiency.

        POWER The POWER area indicates that the Eco-friendly driving range is being exceeded (during full power driving etc.).
      3. When the needle of the Hybrid System Indicator is in the CHARGE or ECO area, the upper area of meter panel illuminates in blue to inform the driver that the vehicle is being driven in an Eco-friendly manner.
