DYNAMIC REAR STEERING SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. A Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) system, which controls the turning angle of the rear wheels, is used on models with LEXUS Dynamic Handling (LDH) system.

    2. The LDH system integrates and controls the Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) system, DRS system and Electric Power Steering (EPS) system, thus achieving both vehicle reaction performance appropriate to the driver's intention and superior vehicle stability.

    3. The LDH system drives the steering actuator assembly in the VGRS system and the rear steering link assembly in the DRS system in accordance with the steered angle of the steering wheel and the vehicle speed, thus controlling the vehicle slip angle and yaw rate to achieve target vehicle characteristics.

    4. The control of the turning angle of the rear wheels by the DRS system is calculated by the front steering control ECU, and is actuated by the driving of the motor in the rear steering link assembly via the rear steering control ECU.
