AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM


  1. OUTLINE


    1. Automatic air conditioning using left/right independent temperature control and neural network control is used.

    2. In order to improve the comfort of all occupants, the multi-zone (4-zone) automatic climate control for independently regulating the outlet air temperatures of both the front and rear seats and automatic air conditioning using neural network control are provided.

    3. In order to cool the HV battery module, the air conditioning unit used on models with the multi-zone (4-zone) automatic climate control is also used on models without the multi-zone automatic climate control. For details, refer to the Hybrid Vehicle Control section.

    4. The Infrared Rays (IR) matrix sensor for detecting the surface temperature of the rear occupants is provided.

  3. MAIN FEATURES


    1. The air conditioning system has the following features:

      High Performance
      • In order to further improve the comfort of all occupants, on models with the multi-zone (4-zone) automatic climate control, the air outlet is respectively provided at the rear air conditioning with air purifier function, roof side rail and roof.

      • The air outlet is placed at the lower part of both center pillars, are used.

      • The non-sliding film damper is provided with the air mix control damper inside the front air conditioning unit, and thus the air volume can be independently adjusted on both the right and left sides of the air outlet.

      • The Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater system is provided. This system contains a PTC heater that heats the air that has passed through the heater core to ensure proper heater performance.

      • Neural network control is used so passengers can accurately control the air conditioning for maximum comfort.

      • FACE mode for the rear seat is installed to blow warm air and ensure excellent heating performance.

      • A micro dust and pollen filter, which removes pollen, is used as the clean air filter.

      • Micro dust pollen filter mode control is used to remove pollen in the area around the upper part of the bodies of the driver and front passenger.

      • The blower control has 7 levels for precise control.

      • Automatic recirculation control is used to help prevent harmful elements such as CO, HC and NOx from entering the cabin.

      • A [nanoe]* generator is provided under the multi-media module receiver assembly to improve the air quality and comfort in the cabin.

      Lightweight A bus connector with a built-in IC is used in a lightweight wire harness design with a reduced number of wires. The use of this connector means that pulse pattern type servo motors are used.
      Compact A blower motor with a built-in blower motor controller is used in a compact construction.

  4. PRECAUTION


    1. Precaution for Refrigerant HFO-1234yf (R1234yf)


      1. Compatibility


        1. The parts used in the refrigerant cycle, the compressor oil, etc. of the HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) system are not compatible with the conventional HFC-134a (R134a) system.

      2. Always use HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) as the refrigerant.

        CAUTION:


        • Do not charge the system with refrigerant near open flames, as HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) is combustible.

        • When charging the system with refrigerant, make sure the area is well ventilated (especially be careful in areas where the gas can easily accumulate such as under lifts and in garage pits, as the gas is heavier than air).

        • Follow any local regulations regarding combustible gases.

        • Be sure to use a refrigerant recovery unit that is compatible with HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems.

        Tech Tips

        The shape of the service port for refrigerant charging has an exclusive design conforming to international standards for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) to prevent improper refrigerant charging.

      3. Compressor Oil


        1. Always use ND-OIL 11 as the compressor oil.

        2. When parts of the air conditioning system are removed, quickly block off any areas that are exposed to the outside air with plugs, vinyl tape, etc., as the oil used for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems absorbs moisture easily.

        3. Do not allow the compressor oil to spray, as the oil used for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf) systems has harmful effects on acrylic resins.
