WIRELESS CHARGING SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components of the wireless charging system have the following functions:

      Component Function
Mobile Wireless Charger Switch Operating this switch allows the operation of the wireless charging system to be enabled or disabled.
Upper Console Panel Sub-assembly Has a built-in mobile wireless charger cradle on its slide lid.
Mobile Wireless Charger Cradle Wireless Charging ECU Controls the wireless charging system based on the mobile wireless charger switch signals or smart key status signals.
Charging Area Recharges a Qi-compatible device such as a cellular phone.
Indicator Light Green Indicates the status of recharging and the wireless charging system.
      Amber
Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) Sends a smart key status signal to the mobile wireless charger cradle (upper console panel sub-assembly).
  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. The wireless charging system operates when both of the following conditions are met:

      1. The engine switch is on (ACC or IG).

      2. The mobile wireless charger switch is ON (the switch indicator is illuminated).

    2. If any of the following operations are performed with the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly present, charging may stop temporarily:

      • Locking/unlocking the doors by touching the door handle

      • Opening/closing the doors

      • Pressing the luggage compartment door opener switch

      • Closing the luggage compartment door

      • Starting the engine

      • Locking the doors by pressing the lock button on the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly

      • Moving the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly out of the detection area

  3. CONSTRUCTION

    1. Mobile Wireless Charger Cradle (Indicator Light)

      1. The indicator light conditions in each operation condition are as follows:

        Indicator Light Operation Condition
        Green Amber
OFF OFF No rechargeable device is on the charging area.
OFF ON A rechargeable device is placed on the charging area or while recharging.
        ON ON Recharging is complete.*1

The indicators blink in the following situations:

        • High charging area temperature*2

        • Wire harness disconnection between certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and mobile wireless charger cradle (upper console panel sub-assembly)

        • Charging error

        Tech Tips

        • *1: Some phones, cases or cover type wireless chargers may not cause the green indicator to illuminate even though it is fully charged. Check the mobile device to confirm charge status. Please refer to precaution for the details. Click here

        • *2: If foreign matter is present between the mobile wireless charger cradle (upper console panel sub-assembly) and a compatible rechargeable device, such as a cellular phone, charging efficiency is lowered and the foreign matter may heat up. If the mobile wireless charger cradle (upper console panel sub-assembly) detects heat from the foreign matter, the indicator lights will blink.
