AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
When the airbag system reaches a decision to deploy the airbags based on the signals detected by the front airbag sensors and the airbag sensor assembly, it deploys the driver and front passenger dual-stage SRS airbags, driver knee airbag*1, front passenger knee airbag*1, and seat belt pretensioners. When the airbag system reaches a decision to deploy the airbags based on the signals detected by the side airbag sensors, rear airbag sensors, rear floor side airbag sensor, and airbag sensor assembly, it deploys the SRS front side airbags*2, rear side airbags*3, and SRS curtain shield airbags*2. Furthermore, it is equipped with a diagnosis function to perform self-diagnose system malfunctions.
*1: Models with SRS knee airbag
*2: Models with SRS front side airbag and SRS curtain shield airbag
*3: Models with rear side airbag
The airbag sensor assembly has 4 built-in sensors: Deceleration sensor 1 detects vehicle deceleration in the lateral direction in addition to the longitudinal direction, deceleration sensor 2 detects deceleration in the longitudinal direction, and the 2 roll rate sensors detect angular velocity in the roll direction.
Each signal is transmitted as follows:
| Target ECU | Signal | Communication Path |
|---|---|---|
| ECM | Collision Detection Signal | CAN Communication Circuit |
