DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM

  1. DESCRIPTION

    1. The door lock control system consists of the main body ECU, door control switch, key-linked switch, door lock assemblies and door courtesy switches, and is predominantly controlled by the main body ECU.

    2. The door lock control system has the following functions:

    Function Outline
Manual lock and unlock This function can lock or unlock all doors by the door control switch operation.
Manual unlock prohibition Performing a door lock operation using a key (electronic or mechanical key) or the outside door handle lock switches will prohibit unlock operations using the door control switch assembly on the driver door.
Key linked lock and unlock This function, which is linked with the driver door key cylinder, can lock or unlock all the doors when a lock or unlock operation is effected using the key (mechanical key). However, the function is not activated when the engine switch is on (IG) and the driver seat belt is fastened.
Key confine prevention When the key is in the interior detection area with the driver's door open and if you perform the door lock operation, all the doors will be unlocked.
    2-step unlock*1
    • When the key (mechanical key) is inserted into the door lock cylinder and is turned once, the driver door is unlocked. Then, the key is turned again, the rest of the doors are unlocked.

    • When the UNLOCK switch of the key (electronic key) is pressed once, the driver door is unlocked. Then, the switch is pressed again, the rest of the doors are unlocked.

    Speed sensitive automatic door lock*2

After the engine switch was turned on (IG) with any of the doors unlocked, this function causes all doors to be automatically locked once the vehicle speed reaches approx. 20 km/h (13 mph) or more. After this function has operated, it will not operate again until either of the following conditions is met:

    • Any of the doors are opened after the vehicle has stopped.

    • The engine switch is turned off after the vehicle has stopped.

    Double locking*3

The double locking function prevents the doors from being opened through the operation of the inside door knobs and also from the outside of the vehicle. This function can be activated or cancelled by conducting either of the following operations.

    • To lock the doors with this function, press the LOCK switch on the key (electronic key), then press it again within 5 seconds.

    • To lock the doors with this function, a person who is carrying the key (electronic key) must press the lock switch on the outside door handle twice within 3 seconds.

    • To unlock the doors, press the UNLOCK switch on the key (electronic key) once or touch the touch sensor on the backside of the outside door handle while carrying the key (electronic key).

    CAUTION:

Never activate the double locking system when there are people in the vehicle because the doors cannot be opened from the inside of the vehicle.

Under emergency conditions, such as if the power has been cut, this function can be cancelled by inserting the key (mechanical key) into the driver door key cylinder and turning it to the unlock side.
