G-BOOK


  1. GENERAL


    1. The G-BOOK has the following functions:

    Remote Maintenance Service Inspection Notification Sends an e-mail message to the vehicle to notify the user of necessary inspections based on vehicle usage conditions.
    Inspection and Maintenance Reservation Offers quick access for the user to easily make a reservation for periodic maintenance or service using the navigation system.
    Operator Service Destination Setting If requested by the user, a G-BOOK operator searches for information to set the destination.
    POI Guidance Provides POI information for facilities in the area around the present location or facilities around the destination.
    News and Weather Forecasts Delivers news and weather forecast information as requested by the user.
    Navigation System Link Function G Route Search Predicts the occurrence of or changes in traffic congestion on the route to the destination and provides the most suitable route based on the latest traffic information, probe information* and past statistical data.
    Facility Information Display When icons obtained from a Web site or from POIs searched for on the web are displayed on the map, information about the facility can be viewed.
    *: Probe information is gathered by using probe communication to aggregate driving data such as vehicle speed and position on models with the G-BOOK system.

  2. REMOTE MAINTENANCE SERVICE


    1. The multi-media module receiver assembly sends a remote maintenance mail to the registered dealer via the cellular phone to provide information about the condition of the vehicle.

    2. The dealer center then notifies the vehicle user about the inspection timing and maintenance notice.

  3. OPERATOR SERVICE


    1. The operator service provides the user with a direct call to a G-BOOK center operator. The user can ask the operator to set a destination or send a POI facility search result or news and weather forecast information to the navigation system.

    2. The operator service uses the multi-media module receiver assembly to make calls via the cellular phone (it is necessary to have the phone registered using the Bluetooth hands-free function).

    Destination Setting Displays the specified destination location on the navigation system screen.
    Nearby POI Facility Guidance Displays the detailed information and location of the specified facilities on the navigation system screen.
    Weather Forecast* Displays and reads out the vehicle location, destination or weather forecast for the specified area.
    News* Displays and reads out updates, society, sports and entertainment news.
    *: By using the browser content display function built into the navigation system, the contents can be displayed. If news content is displayed, headlines are read out to assist the driver in checking the content easily even while driving.

  4. NAVIGATION SYSTEM LINK FUNCTION


    1. The navigation system link function provides the navigation system with real-time information obtained from the G-BOOK center, thus offering more effective use of the navigation system for the user.

    2. The navigation system link function has the following functions:

    G Route Search Searches for the most suitable route to the destination based on a wide-area traffic congestion prediction.
    Facility Information Display Displays information about facilities which are not included in the navigation system.
