TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM

  1. Tire Inflation Pressure Display Function

    1. The multi-information display shows the following to inform or warn the driver of the tire pressure:

Condition Tire Pressure Warning Light Multi-information Display
      Normal Tire Pressure - A01W6EH
Start Initialization When tire pressure warning reset switch pressed Blinks 3 times at 0.5 Hz A01W6J7
      During initialization* - A01W63J

      Tech Tips

*: The indication is displayed only when tire pressure mode is selected.

  2. Warning Function

    1. The tire pressure warning ECU has 2 warning methods, depending on the condition detected.

    2. The table below shows the warning methods for the tire pressure warning light and multi-information display in the combination meter assembly:

Detection Condition Tire Pressure Warning Light Multi-information Display
      Low Tire Pressure Illuminate A01W6FE
System Failure Illuminates after blinking for 1 minute A01W6VQ
    3. After registering the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter ID code, the tire pressure warning light will operate until the tire pressure warning system starts to function normally. For this function, when an ID code is registered, the tire pressure warning light will blink for 1 minute and then turns on until the system starts operating normally.

    4. If the tire pressure warning light illuminates, adjust the tire pressure.

    5. If the tire pressure warning light stays on after blinking for 1 minute, the system is malfunctioning and must be repaired in order to turn off the light. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

    6. The tire pressure warning light may blink for 1 minute and turn on due to electric wave interference at the same frequency.

  3. Initial Check Function

    1. After the engine switch is turned on (IG), the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver illuminates the tire pressure warning light for 3 seconds to check the warning light circuits.

  4. Initialization Function

    1. The warning threshold is calculated from the tire pressure value at the time of initialization and memorized in the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver. Therefore, the tire pressure warning ECU and receiver should be initialized after:

      1. The recommended tire pressure changes due to changes in vehicle weight, speed conditions or tire size.

      2. The tire pressure warning ECU and receiver or the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter are replaced.

      3. The tire pressure is adjusted.

        Tech Tips

The tire pressure warning ECU and receiver can be initialized as follows:

        1. Set the tire pressure for all tires to the specified value when the tires are cold.

        2. Keep the tire pressure warning reset switch pressed for 3 seconds [with the engine switch on (IG) and with the vehicle stopped].

        3. The tire pressure warning light blinks 3 times and the initialization mode starts.

        4. The initialization is completed when signals from all the tire pressure warning valve and transmitters are received.

        5. After the initialization has been completed, turn the engine switch off and then on (IG) again, and check the pressure of all tires using a Global TechStream (GTS).

For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

        Note

        • The initialization mode will not be cancelled by turning the engine switch to off during initialization process.

        • The tire pressure warning reset switch cannot operate while the vehicle is driving.
