    3. Daytime Running Light System (Models with Daytime Running Light)


      1. This system is designed to automatically activate the daytime running lights during the daytime to keep the car highly visible to other vehicles.

    4. Automatic Light Control System (Models with Automatic Light Control System)


      1. When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the rain sensor detects the ambient light level and automatically turns the headlights, taillights, clearance lights, and license plate lights on or off accordingly.

    5. Light Automatic Turn-off System


      1. This system automatically turns off the headlight, taillight, and so on when the ignition switch (engine switch*) is turned off.

    6. Follow Me Home Function System


      1. When the ignition switch (engine switch) is off and the light control switch is in the pass position then neutral position, the high beam headlight will turns off after 30 seconds.

    7. High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlight System (Models with HID Headlight System)


      1. The HID headlight system uses a discharge bulb as its light source for the low beam. Discharge bulbs have features superior to halogen bulbs.

    8. Automatic Headlight Beam Level Control System (Models with HID Headlight System)


      1. When the headlights are on, the automatic headlight beam level control system operates the headlight leveling motor in accordance with the movement of the vehicle.

    9. Manual Headlight Beam Level Control System (Models with halogen Headlight System)


      1. The manual headlight beam level control system keeps the beam of the headlight adjusted to the appropriate level in accordance with the number (weight) of passengers and volume of luggage.

    10. Automatic High Beam (AHB) System (Models with AHB System)


      1. The Automatic High Beam (AHB) system detects lights in front of the vehicle and automatically changes between high beams and low beams to support the driver during night driving.

  3. PRECAUTION


    1. HID Headlight System


      1. When the HID headlights illuminate, a high voltage (approximately 30000 V) is applied momentarily to the bulb sockets, which could lead to a serious accident. Never connect the tester to the high voltage socket of HID headlight for measurement, as the high voltage may cause a serious accident.

      2. When inspecting the HID headlight system, in order to prevent electric shocks, make sure that water is not present, the light control switch is off, the battery terminal has been removed, and the connector of the light control ECU has been disconnected.

      3. Operate the HID headlight only after assembly has been properly completed, and never operate without bulbs installed.

      4. Do not operate the HID headlight using a power source other than that of the vehicle.

      5. If there is a defect in the HID headlight or if the headlight has suffered a shock, replace the bulb with a new one.

      6. Discharge bulbs reach high temperatures when illuminated. For this reason, the life of a bulb could be shortened if any oil comes in contact with the glass portion of a bulb. Do not touch the glass portion of a bulb with bare hands.

    2. Automatic High Beam (AHB) System


      1. The Automatic High Beam (AHB) system is a system that helps ensure visibility by automatically switching the high beams on and off.

      2. However, due to control limitations of the Automatic High Beam (AHB) system, it may be necessary to manually switch high beams on and off. When driving, for safety reasons, make sure to switch the high beams and low beams manually in accordance with the driving conditions.

      3. Under the following conditions, the Automatic High Beam (AHB) system might not detect other vehicles or lights correctly, or the high beams might cause glare or flash pedestrians or the occupants of other vehicles. Manual operation should be considered.

        Factor Condition
        Weather/Climate When driving in bad weather (rain, snow, fog, sandstorms, etc.).
        Windshield Glass
        • When the windshield glass is not clear (ice, snow or frost on the glass).

        • When the windshield glass is dirty (sand, mud, water stains or bugs on the glass).

        • When the windshield glass is cracked.

        • When the windshield glass is fogged up.

        • When the windshield glass has a film attached.

        • When an object on the instrument panel reflects off of the windshield glass.

        • When any other abnormal conditions exist with the windshield glass.

        Pre-collision City Sensor
        • When the pre-collision city sensor or its built-in camera is deformed.

        • When the automatic high beam sensor in the pre-collision city sensor is dirty.

        • When any other abnormal conditions exist with the pre-collision city sensor or its built-in automatic high beam sensor.

        Nearby Vehicles or Lights
        • When lights similar to headlights or taillights are in the vicinity of the vehicle.

        • When a nearby vehicle has no lights or its lights are off.

        • When a vehicle in front has misaligned lights or its lights are changing color.

        • When a vehicle in front has extremely dirty headlights or taillights.

        Road Conditions
        • When driving in an area where the conditions often change between bright and dark.

        • When driving on a road with many uphill and downhill slopes.

        • When driving on a winding road or around a sharp curve.

        • When driving on a bumpy road (cobblestone pavement, gravel road, rough unpaved road, etc.).

        • When highly reflective objects are in front of the vehicle (mirrors, road signs, etc.).

        Vehicle Conditions
        • When the headlights are damaged, deformed or dirty.

        • When the vehicle posture is abnormal due to a flat tire (or posture has changed due to the vehicle being fully loaded, a trailer being towed, etc.).

        • When the vehicle has other malfunctions or if the vehicle has been modified.

        Automatic High Beam (AHB) System

        Malfunction:


        • When the automatic high beam indicator light on the combination meter assembly is blinking.

        Others:


        • When the Automatic High Beam (AHB) system does not seem to be changing between the high beams and low beams properly.

        • When the Automatic High Beam (AHB) system is frequently changing between the high beams and low beams.

        • When the glare from the high beams would disturb pedestrians or the drivers of other vehicles.
