FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS
The main components in the illuminated entry system have the following functions:

| Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly | Detects whether the doors are open or closed and sends this information to the main body ECU. |
| Lock Position Switch | Detects whether the doors are locked or unlocked and sends this information to the main body ECU. |
| Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*1 | Detects the shift position and sends this information to the main body ECU via the ECM. |
| Power Management Control ECU | Sends power condition information to the main body ECU. |
| Parking Brake Switch*2 | Tells the main body ECU whether the parking brake is on or off. |
| Door Control Receiver | Receives the ID code from the transmitter and transmits it to the main body ECU.*3 |
| Receives the ID code from the key and transmits it to the certification ECU.*4 | |
| Door Electrical Key Oscillator*4 | Receives the request signals from the certification ECU, and creates an exterior actuation area around the door. |
| Certification ECU*4 | Judges the ID code from the door control receiver and sends the verification result to the main body ECU. |
| Main Body ECU | Turns on or off each light using signals from each switch and the ECU. |

FUNCTION
When any one of the following conditions is satisfied, the illuminated entry system turns on the map light, room light, engine switch illumination light*2, interior foot light, and console box illumination light*3:
Any door is opened.
Any door is unlocked.
A key enters any exterior actuation area of the door electrical key oscillator*2, 4.
All doors are closed and the ignition switch (engine switch*2) is turned from ON to off.
When any one of the following conditions is satisfied, these lights will fade out (within approximately 1 second):
The lights have remained on for approximately 15 seconds after all doors have been properly closed.
All doors are closed and locked.
All doors are closed and the ignition switch (engine switch*2) is turned to ON or ACC.
When all of the following conditions are satisfied, the interior foot light and console box illumination light*3 are turned on in medium brightness mode:
All doors are closed.
All doors are closed and the ignition switch (engine switch*2) is turned to ON or ACC.
The shift lever is in any position other than P.*5
The parking brake is released.*6
A battery saving function is used to automatically turn off the map light, room light, engine switch illumination light*2, and interior foot light when the following condition occurs continuously for over 20 minutes:
The key is not in the ignition key cylinder*1 or the engine switch is off*2 when any door is either ajar or open.
The map light and room light illuminate only when the interior light switch is in the door position.
Auto Turn Off
When no changes occur in the condition of the light switches and door courtesy light switches on for 20 minutes, the map light, room light, door courtesy light, engine switch illumination light*2 and luggage room light are turn off.
