THEFT DETERRENT

  1. FUNCTION

    1. The theft deterrent system has the following functions:

      Function Outline
Alarm When the theft deterrent system enters the alarm state, the warning items (hazard warning lights, vehicle horn, and security horn assembly) are operated for approx. 27.5 seconds.
      Security Indicator
      • When the state of the theft deterrent system enters the armed preparation or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user.

      • This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, and it blinks when the engine immobiliser is in an engaged state.

      Forced Door Lock

The main body ECU transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all of the following conditions are satisfied:

      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • There is no key inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*

The function stops when one of the following conditions is met:

      • All doors are locked.

      • The warning ends.

      • The ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*

      • *: Models without entry and start system

  2. OPERATION

    1. Theft Warning Siren Assembly

      1. During normal operation, this siren sounds an alarm in accordance with the operation signal from the main body ECU. Because this siren has an internal battery, it can independently sound an alarm even if the vehicle's battery terminals are disconnected or if the wiring harnesses related to the system are cut.

    2. Basic Operation

      1. This system activates as described in the diagram below when one of items is placed in the respective state:

        A005FMZE02
        Condition Item
        (1)

In the disarmed state, when the ignition switch (engine switch*1) is off, the system state is switched if all of the following conditions are met:

        • The ignition key is not inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*2

        • Ignition switch (engine switch*1) is off.

        • When the doors and engine hood are all closed, the key*1 or transmitter*2 is used to lock all doors.

        (2) When the doors and engine hood are all closed and locked, and 30 seconds have elapsed.
        (3)*5

The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met:

        • When one of the doors or the engine hood is opened using the key*1 or transmitter*2.

        • When one of the doors is unlocked.

        • When the ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*2

        • When the engine switch is pushed.*1

        • When the ignition switch (engine switch*1) has been turned to ON or ACC.

        • When a terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

        • When one of the doors is unlocked using a mechanical key.*3

        (4)

The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met:

        • Any door or engine hood is opened.*4

        • Any door is unlocked through an operation other than the key*1 or transmitter*2*4.

        • When the ignition switch (engine switch*1) has been turned off and then turned to ON.*2*4

        • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

        (5)*5

The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met:

        • The key*1 or transmitter*2 is used to unlock the doors.

        • After the engine start, 2 seconds have elapsed.

        • When one of the doors is unlocked using a mechanical key.*3

        (6) After approx. 27.5 seconds of the alarm time have elapsed.

        Tech Tips

*1: Models with entry and start system

*2: Models without entry and start system

        *3: Customize setting is on

*4: If the apparent theft continues to be detected, the warning will resume 5 seconds after the previous warning. The warning will repeat a maximum of 10 times.

*5: With the provision of the customizing function, prohibition of the security unlocking using a door key is enabled. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.

    3. Forced Door Lock Operation

      1. When the system starts the alarm state, and one of the doors is subsequently unlocked, the forced door lock operation forcefully outputs a door lock signal to prevent intrusion into the vehicle. This operation becomes active when all the starting conditions listed below have been met, and stops when one of the stopping conditions occurs:

        Condition Item
Starting Condition The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.
There is no key inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*
One of the doors is unlocked.
Stopping Condition All doors are locked.
        The warning ends.
The ignition key is inserted in the ignition key cylinder.*

        • *: Models without entry and start system
