LUBRICATION SYSTEM


  1. OUTLINE


    1. The lubrication circuit is fully pressurized and all oil passes through an oil filter.

    2. The crankshaft drives a trochoid gear type oil pump. The oil pump fits compactly inside the timing chain cover.

    3. The oil pan is made of aluminum alloy.

    4. The oil strainer is made of plastic to reduce weight.

    5. This engine has an oil return system in which the oil is force-fed to the upper cylinder head and returns to the oil pan through the oil return holes in the cylinder head and cylinder block.

    6. The camshaft timing oil control valve regulates the oil pressure and then supplies oil into each VVT-i controller.

    7. An oil filter with a replaceable element is used.
