CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

  1. OUTLINE

    1. The Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial data communication network for real time application. CAN is a multiplex communication network to be equipped in a vehicle. CAN has communication speeds of 500 kbps (HS-CAN) and 250 kbps (MS-CAN), and the ability to detect malfunctions.

    2. The HS-CAN consists of a V1 bus, V2 bus, sensor bus, local bus, and power management bus.

    3. The MS-CAN consists of an MS bus.

    4. The communication wire used is a twisted-pair wire. The bus line has a high line (2.5 V to 3.5 V of voltage is applied) and a low line (1.5 V to 2.5 V of voltage is applied).

    5. The main body ECU and the power management control ECU both have a gateway function. The ECUs connect the respective buses in order to establish communication between each bus.
