BLOCKING SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    1. The main components for the blocking system have the following functions:

      Component Function
      Telephone Transceiver Assembly
      • Cancels or connects communication between the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and power management control ECU.

      • Receives signals from the GPS antenna and telephone antenna.

      • Transmits a signal to the telephone antenna.

Mayday Battery Provides power to the telephone transceiver assembly when the power supply from the vehicle battery is cut off or has deteriorated.
Instrument Panel Integration Antenna Assembly GPS Antenna Receives signals from Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites and transmits a vehicle position signal to the telephone transceiver assembly.
Telephone Antenna Sends and receives information to and from the call center using Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) type cellular communication, and transmits received information to the telephone transceiver assembly.
  2. SYSTEM CONTROL

    Function Outline
Localization Conducts vehicle localization by transmitting vehicle location data received from GPS satellites to the call center via the telephone transceiver assembly.
    Blocking
    • Once the user has informed the call center of the theft of the vehicle, the call center will transmit a blocking signal to the vehicle. Once the telephone transceiver assembly has received the blocking signal, it will activate the blocking. Communication between the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and power management control ECU is canceled, thus preventing the hybrid system from starting.

    • While the ignition is off, the telephone transceiver assembly activates every 12 hours* to calculate the vehicle location data using GPS signals. If the telephone transceiver assembly determines, based on the calculated vehicle location, that the vehicle position has changed by more than a certain amount while the ignition was off, the telephone transceiver assembly enters the autonomous blocking state. If the owner of the vehicle already subscribed to a service of the service provider, the telephone transceiver assembly sends a message to the call center via General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)/GSM to inform them of the abnormality. However, if the owner of the vehicle is not a subscriber, it is still possible for them to subscribe to the service after the situation has occurred. After the contract is complete, the telephone transceiver assembly will receive short message service (SMS) data from the service provider to indicate that the service has started.

*: 12-hours is an initial value. The value differs according to the type of service that the owner is subscribed to.

    Tech Tips

    • The user can cancel the blocking function by contacting the call center.

    • While the blocking function is active, the hybrid system cannot be started even though the engine immobiliser system has been unset. The hybrid system can be re-started after the blocking function has been canceled.

  3. DIAGNOSIS

    1. The 5-digit DTCs of this system can be read by connecting an Global TechStream (GTS) tester to the DLC3. For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
