THEFT DETERRENT DETAILS

  1. FUNCTION

    1. The theft deterrent system has the following function:

      Function Outline
Alarm When the theft deterrent system enters the alarm state, the warning items (hazard warning lights, security horn and self-power siren) are operated for approximately 30 seconds.
      Security Indicator
      • When the state of the theft deterrent system enters the armed preparation or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user.

      • This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, it blinks when the engine immobiliser is in an engaged state.

      Forced Door Lock
      • The main body ECU transmits a door lock signal to all of the following conditions are satisfied.

        • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

        • Either front door is unlocked without using the mechanical key. (IG OFF, ACC OFF position)

      • The function stops when one of the following conditions is met.

        • All doors are locked.

        • The warning ends.

        • Either front door is unlocked using the mechanical key.

  2. CONSTRUCTION

    1. Intrusion Sensor

      1. The intrusion sensor detects any intrusion into the vehicle interior and transmits a warning signal to the main body ECU.

      2. This sensor transmits radio waves at 24 GHz in the vehicle interior. When an intruding object moves, it disrupts the reflection of the radio waves, and the sensor detects the resulting changes in the phase of the radio waves.

      3. The intrusion sensor operation can be suspended for a short period of time by pressing the intrusion sensor cancel switch, provided on the personal light assembly, before the theft deterrent system is set.

    2. Glass Breakage Sensor

      1. By sending signals through the connected sensor strips on the back door glass and back door fix glass, the glass breakage sensor can detect breakage of those door glasses.

      2. The glass breakage sensors are linked to the theft deterrent system, and they will automatically be set when the system enters the armed state. During the armed state, when the grass breakage sensor detects an open between the back door glass and back door fix glass, it transmits a signal indicating glass breakage to the main body ECU, and the system enters the alarming state.

    3. Self-power Siren

      1. During a normal operation, this siren sounds an alarm in accordance with the operation signal from the main body ECU. Because this siren has an internal battery, it can independently sound an alarm even if the vehicle's battery terminals are disconnected or if the wiring harnesses that are related to the system are cut.

  3. OPERATION

    1. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. -
Armed Preparation State The standby state before the theft deterrent system activates when the system has already been set. -
Armed State The theft deterrent system is being activated. (Theft can be detected.) x
Alarm State Theft has been detected and the warning operation activates. x
      A01J84HE01
    2. The theft deterrent system activates as described in the diagram below when one of items in the chart occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

      Condition Item
      (1)
      • In the disarmed state, when the power switch is off, the system state is switched if all of the following conditions are met.

        • All doors, engine hood and back door are closed.

        • All doors are locked using the key LOCK button, entry and start system.

      (2) The system state is switched when the doors, engine hood and back door are all closed and locked, and approximately 30 seconds have elapsed.
      (3)
      • The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.

        • All doors are unlocked using the electrical key transmitter UNLOCK button or entry and start system.

        • Any door is unlocked.

        • Any door is opened.

        • Key is in the vehicle interior.

        • When the power switch is turned from off to on (IG) or on (ACC).

        • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      (4)
      • The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.

        • The engine hood, the back door, or a door is opened.

        • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

        • The intrusion sensor detects movement in the vehicle interior.

        • With all doors closed, any door is opened.

        • With all doors locked, any door is unlocked by a method other than electrical key.

        • With the back door closed, the back door is opened by a method other than the entry and start system.

        • The power switch has been changed to on (IG) by hot wiring and not by operating the power switch.

        • The certification ECU detects on open circuit in the print pattern type glass breakage sensors.

      (5)
      • The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.

        • Any door is unlocked with the key UNLOCK button.

        • 2 seconds or more have elapsed after the hybrid control system was started.

      (6) The system state is switched after the alarm time elapses.
