ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM GENERAL

    1. The engine immobiliser system compares the ID code that is registered in the immobiliser code ECU* with the ID code of the transponder chip that is embedded in the key. The system is unset if these ID codes match. Thus, the immobiliser code ECU* and the power management control ECU communicate with each other to authorize the starting of the hybrid system (READY) through the operation of the power switch.

      *: The immobiliser code ECU is only available on European models. Instead, a certification ECU that works the same way as the immobiliser code ECU is available on Australian models.

      Tech Tips

      When replacing the immobiliser code ECU or certification ECU, or making a new key, key recognition codes must be registered. For details, refer to the Service Bulletin.
