  1. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Cranking Hold Function (Models with Entry and Start System)

      1. Once the engine switch is pressed, this function operates the starter until the engine starts, provided that the clutch pedal is depressed. This prevents application of the starter for an inadequate length of time and it also prevents the engine from being cranked after it has started.

      2. The power source control ECU sends a drive signal (STAR) to the starter relay upon the start signal (STSW) input from the engine switch and drives the starter. Then the power source control ECU turns the ACC relay operation signal (ACCD) off and prevents the accessory light from flickering when cranking.

      3. The power source control ECU determines the cranking hold function operation time and the engine speed which indicates a successful start in accordance with the coolant temperature.

      4. After the engine speed rises above approximately 800 rpm to 1200 rpm (varies according to the engine coolant temperature), the power source control ECU and ECM determines that the engine has started and stops the output of the STAR signal. This causes starter operation to stop and the power source control ECU to turn on the ACC relay.
