CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. Once the cruise control system is set to the desired vehicle speed by the driver, the power management control ECU automatically regulates the motive force to maintain the set vehicle speed without any accelerator pedal operation.

  2. MAJOR DIFFERENCE

    1. The new models have been modified from the previous model, as shown below:

      1. The stop light switch has been changed to a non-contact (semiconductor) type. For details, Click here.

  3. PRECAUTION

    1. Observe the following precautions when using the cruise control system.

      1. Turn off the ON-OFF button on the cruise control main switch whenever the cruise control system is not in use.

      2. Beware of a possible increase in vehicle speed when driving downhill.

      3. The RES switch control is activated when the cruise control main switch is pressed to the +RES side after the cruise control system is cancelled, and the ACC (+) switch control is activated when the cruise control main switch is pressed to the +RES side while driving at a constant speed.

      4. If the cruise main indicator light flashes while the cruise control system is on, first turn the cruise control system off. Then, turn the cruise control system back on. If the cruise main indicator light continues to flash after performing the above, there may be a malfunction in the system. Although this does not affect normal driving, have the vehicle inspected at a Toyota dealer.

      5. Do not use the cruise control system under the following road conditions. This may cause the driver not to drive the vehicle at a reasonable speed according to the road surface conditions and lose control of the vehicle due to tire spin, resulting in unexpected accidents.

        • Road with heavy traffic

        • Winding road

        • Steep downhill

        • Road with sharp bends

        • Frozen or snowy road

        • Slippery road surface

      6. Do not use the cruise control system when towing a vehicle. The weight of the vehicle being towed may impair the system function and deteriorate the control performance, resulting in unexpected accidents.
