LIGHTING SYSTEM DETAILS

  1. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Daytime Running Light System

      1. When the engine is running, the main body ECU receives light control switch signals (Auto, Head, Tail) to control the illumination of the headlight and taillights.

    2. Automatic Light Control System

      1. When the ignition switch is turned on, the main body ECU receives a light control switch signal (Auto) and automatic light control sensor illumination level signals and based on the automatic light control sensor illumination level signal output values, it sends light ON or OFF signals to both the headlights and taillights simultaneously. When the light control switch is turned to AUTO with the ignition switch turned on, this system automatically turns on/off the taillights and the headlights in accordance with the ambient brightness detected by the automatic light control sensor.

    3. Light Auto Turn-OFF System

      1. The light auto turn-off system is provided on the vehicles with the automatic light control system. The main body ECU receives the light control switch signals (Auto, Head, Tail), driver side door courtesy light switch on/off signal, ignition switch turned off signal and turns off the exterior lights as follows.

Light control switch position The condition when the light auto turn-off system works The lights that comes off
Auto The driver door is opened after the ignition switch is turned off Headlights, front foglights, taillights, clearance lights, license plate lights, rear foglight
Head Ignition switch off Headlights, front foglights
        Tail
    4. Light Reminder System

      1. The light reminder system warns the driver using a buzzer when the meter ECU inside the combination meter assembly receives the driver's door courtesy light switch signal via the main body ECU and the ignition switch is turned off and the door is opened with the taillights kept on. The buzzer is located inside the combination meter.

  2. CONSTRUCTION

    1. Headlight

      1. Halogen headlight bulbs are used for the headlights. The high and low beams are switched using a projector unit shade for sufficient use of the light source. The solenoid rotates the projector unit shade to block or release the light reflected toward the upper section of the projector lens and switches low and high beams.

      2. The engine room has been made compact, and the space for maintenance behind the headlight unit has also become small. A new structure allows the low and high beam bulbs to be replaced in the horizontal direction of the headlight unit to ensure ease of maintenance when replacing the bulbs.

  3. FAIL-SAFE

    1. Automatic Light Control System

      1. If the output value from the automatic light control sensor deviates from the predetermined value, the main body ECU determines that there is a malfunction in the automatic light control sensor or a breakage or short circuit in the wire harness and then performs the fail-safe.

        Problem Outline
Automatic light control sensor output value is abnormal
        • The headlights and taillights are turned on. →remain turned on

        • The headlights and taillights turn off when the light auto turn-off system is activated or the light control switch is turned off.

        • The headlights and taillights are turned off. →remain turned off

Automatic light control sensor output values are abnormal
        • The automatic light control system is recovered.
