  1. FUNCTION


    1. The theft deterrent system has the following function:

      Function Outline
      Alarm When the theft deterrent system enters the alarm state, the warning items (hazard warning lights, vehicle horn, and security horn) are operated for approximately 30 seconds.
      Security Indicator When the state of the theft deterrent system enters the alarmed preparation or alarm state, the security indicator light is illuminated to inform the user. This indicator is also the engine immobiliser indicator, it blinks when the engine immobiliser is in an engaged state.
      Forced Door Lock

      The main body ECU transmits a door lock signal to all the doors when all the following conditions are satisfied.


      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm state.

      • Either front door is unlocked without using the transmitter*1 unlock button or entry and start system*2. (IG OFF, ACC OFF position)

      The function stops when one of the following conditions is met.


      • Any door is unlocked with the transmitter*1 unlock button.

      • 2 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine was started.


      • *1: Electrical key transmitters for vehicles with the entry and start system and door control transmitters for vehicles without the entry and start system

      • *2: Models with entry and start system

  2. OPERATION


    1. The states of the theft deterrent system are as follows:

      State Description Theft Detection
      Disarmed State The theft deterrent system has not been set by the user. -
      Armed Preparation State The standby state before the theft deterrent system activates when the system has already been set. -
      Armed State The theft deterrent system is being activated. (Theft can be detected.)
      Alarm State Theft has been detected and the warning operation activates.

    2. The theft deterrent system activates as described in the diagram below when one of items in the chart occurs in order to cause the system to enter the respective state.

      Condition Item
      (1)

      In the disarmed state, when the ignition switch is OFF, the system state is switched if all of the following conditions are met.


      • All doors, engine hood and back door are closed.


      • All doors are locked using the transmitter*3 lock button or key.

      (2) The system state is switched when the doors, engine hood and back door are all closed and locked, and approximately 30 seconds have elapsed.
      (3)

      The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.


      • Any door, engine hood, or back door is opened.

      • Any door is unlocked.

      • When the key is inserted into the front door key cylinder.*1

      • When the engine switch is turned from off to on (IG).*2

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      • All doors are unlocked using the transmitter*3 lock button, entry and start system*2 or key.

      The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.


      • With all doors closed, any door is opened.

      • With all doors locked, any door is unlocked by a method other than transmitter*3 lock button or key.

      • With the back door closed, the back door is opened by a method other than the entry and start system*2.

      • With the engine hood closed, the engine hood is opened.

      • A terminal is disconnected from the battery and reconnected.

      • The hood, the back door, or a door is open.

      • Any door is being unlocked.

      • When the engine switch is turned off to on (IG) after approximately 5 seconds have elapsed since the engine switch was turned from on (IG) to off.*2

      • When the key is not inserted into the key cylinder on the front door, the ignition switch is turned from off to ON.*1

      • When the key is not inserted into the key cylinder on the front door, the ignition switch is turned to ON.*1

      The system state is switched when one of the following conditions is met.


      • Any door is unlocked with the transmitter*3 unlock button.

      • 2 seconds or more have elapsed after the engine was started.

      (6) The system state is switched after the alarm time elapses.

      • *1: Models without entry and start system

      • *2: Models with entry and start system

      • *3: Electrical key transmitters for vehicles with the entry and start system and door control transmitters for vehicles without the entry and start system
