  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
    Rear Television Camera Assembly Captures the view behind the vehicle and transmits the image to the inner rear view mirror assembly*1 or radio and display receiver assembly*2.
    Inner Rear View Mirror Assembly*1 or Radio and Display Receiver Assembly*2

    • Receives signals from the park/neutral position switch assembly*3 or back-up light switch assembly*4 and turns the rear television camera assembly on and off.

    • Displays the image transmitted by the rear television camera assembly on the screen.
    Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly*3 Transmits the R position signal to the inner rear view mirror assembly*1 or radio and display receiver assembly*2.
    Back-up Light Switch Assembly*4 Transmits the on/off signal of the back-up light switch assembly to the inner rear view mirror assembly*1 or radio and display receiver assembly*2.

    • *1: Models without radio and display receiver assembly

    • *2: Models with radio and display receiver assembly

    • *3: Models with automatic transaxle

    • *4: Models with manual transaxle

  2. OPERATING CONDITION

    1. The monitor system operates when all the following conditions have been met:

      1. The ignition switch (engine switch*) is ON.

      2. Shift lever is in R.

  3. FUNCTION

    1. Area Displayed on Screen

      1. On the display, objects on the right of the vehicle appear on the right side of the display panel, and objects on the left of the vehicle appear on the left side of the display panel.

      2. The rear television camera assembly uses a wide-angle lens. The perceived distance from images that appear on the screen differs from the actual distance.

        Tech Tips

        • The area displayed on screen may vary in accordance with vehicle status or road conditions. The area covered by the rear television camera assembly is limited. The rear television camera assembly does not show objects close to either corner of the bumper or the area under the bumper.

        • The vehicle width extension guide line and distance guide line are displayed on the screen only on models without radio and display receiver assembly.

  4. FAIL-SAFE

    1. The table below indicates the conditions of detecting malfunctions in this system:

  5. DIAGNOSIS
