Triple cone synchronizing mechanism
Before shifting, a rotation difference is generated between the middle synchronizer ring which rotates together with a gear and the inner and outer synchronizer rings which rotate together with the output shaft.
Because of the generated friction between the outer synchronizer ring and the outer surface of the middle synchronizer ring, between the inner synchronizer ring and the inner surface of the middle synchronizer ring, and between the inner synchronizer ring and the taper cone surface of a gear due to the shift operating force transmitted from the driver's shift operation through the transmission hub sleeve to each synchronizer ring, which friction becomes a large synchronizing force, the rotation difference between the synchronizer rings can be diminished promptly, by comparing to other synchronizing mechanisms that have only one friction surface.
