EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM GENERAL

  1. OUTLINE

    1. An EGR system has been adopted on the Singapore model.

    2. This system is designed to reduce and control NOx formation due to a slight reduction of peak temperature in the engine combustion chamber, which is accomplished by introducing a small amount of inert gas into intake manifold.

    3. The emission control ECU determines the EGR rate according to the engine operation and outputs appropriate signals to the VRV (Vacuum Regulating Valve). The VRV would then control the operating vacuum to the EGR valve.
